I’ve been to NYC every year for the past three years. So personally I would say visit it as often as you like! I love the city, not just for the theatre but for the atmosphere. I would continue going in this pattern for a long time if it wasn’t for my desire to see new places.
Only you can decide if you can justify another trip.

jeez..and I thought I was much planning 6 months in advance Theatre wise, if you go in 2019 I say do NOT get the ball rolling now. The Broadway scene has a much faster turnover than the West End. Come 2019 I'm sure there will be a slew of new and exciting shows (also depends on when in 2019 you will go).

I'm planning to go to New York for the fourth time in September, as much because I love the city as it would be for theatre - I've never seen more than two Broadway shows on a single trip!
Only you can decide whether you want to go back or not, so I'm not sure what advice a theatre forum can give you!

I have been going to New York about 3 times a year for the past 3 years. So my answer to the question is: No, it’s not silly to go again. It’s an amazing city. I still find new things to do and discover plus it’s nice to be familiar with lots of places.

I've gone several times a year for the past five years (and some occasional trips before then). This year, I've only been twice, due to lack of funds.
I try and a do a long weekend to catch days with a matinee performance. I also do longer trips where I pass through New York on the way to other cities, or visit multiple places. You can often add a 24 hour stopover for no extra money.
The additional cities are there because they're much cheaper than New York, they have new places for me to visit and they often have excellent theatre tours runnings as well. For instance, earlier this year I tagged on Washington DC so I could attend the tours of The King and I and Cabaret, which were both running at the same time and also went to Worcester, MA to see the non-equity tour of Pippin.
For New York, I don't plan anywhere near as much as I used to do. I tend to get some tickets via box offices, TDF and TodayTix and leave some gaps for Rush tickets and whatever takes my fancy at the time. I often go to off-Broadway shows as well. The rest of the time, I look around and relax.
Definitely not silly to go again. The main challenge is keeping the costs sensible (collecting hotel reward points cheaply in the UK and using them to book expensive rooms in New York is my top tip here).

Ive been twice since 1991. Its such a fantastic place. Dont know when i will go again, probably with my retirement lump sum🙈

We'll have all sorts of stuff for you to see. I'm sure Come From Away will still be running. See that! As far as non-theatre stuff, I'd recommend the Morgan Library, the High Line, the NY Transit Museum, and Eataly (unless you're claustrophobic).

I mean it doesn’t need any more votes but I’ve been ahout 15-16 times over about as many years (a few were clustered together when I lived in Canada) and I still love it. There’s always something new to do- and old “friends” to revisit.
This time I’m probably taking a day trip out to Philly or maybe upstate NY but even without there’s plenty in Manhattan and the boroughs to do!
Ps Long Island City is a great place to stay far cheaper than Manhattan and you can get to Times Square in about 15 mins from most hotels over there 😊
