I'd be easy to please this year as all I want is to be able to GO to the theatre again by Xmas! But if asked I usually suggest that family/friends pay for one of my cheaper memberships (I don't have many) and that I will use, as those are gifts which last all year. Plus I add that one of these would make a great combined Birthday/Xmas present, since that really keeps the cost down and my birthday is within 3 months of Xmas.
So memberships such as those for CFT, or, more expensive, a multi-pack of tickets for the Arcola or Southwark Playhouse, both venues I visit several times per year.

I once made the mistake of re-reading it while supervising an exam...ended up sniffling in the corner at one point! It’s not the greatest work of literature ever created but it’s an honest and interesting look at Rapp’s life...actually I’d also be interested to re-read in light of what we now know about him and Spacey...

National Theatre Yearbook 2018
Rarely i.e. never buy programmes, always thought an annual compendium would be a good alternative especially for Theatres with a loyal following such as the National, Globe, Almeida, Donmar etc.on the understanding that these are summaries / cast lists with a few photos as not to dent the breadwinner Programme sales are.
Will peruse before seeing A&C this evening. rather than wait for the portly bearded gentleman will likely buy as it ‘only’ costs three programmes..
Not sure if others on here have issues with presents that match their interests despite their best endeavours, when I regularly played in bands always replied when asked, I would like a set of guitar strings as a stocking filler instead of the socks, deodorant set or god forbid a bottle of Stella in a display pack which I always received.

Hoping for Tom Bateman and Jonny B wrapped in a bow. Just a bow.
And maybe Patti to drop by for a martini and a sing song around the piano.
