I certainly would have expected something, given the calibre of the cast and it being the European premier. It's not the European premiere, only UK.

There's a YouTube clip of a German production with a white Jake in blackface. I wish I was making it up.

I remembered it being discussed when first announced, and for some reason thought we discovered the alternate! Thanks for clarifying

Here's a vote from someone who enjoyed that version quite a bit (and saw both)!

I think it focussed the story more, gave more backstory for the twins and made the ending stronger. Yes they cut 'Tunnel of Love' which I love, but a bit OTT, but the tune is still in there.

I was there tonight, but i'm seeing it again on Monday so will save my thoughts for after then.
The show stopped a few times in the first act for technical issues, and costumes werent finished and need some work, but for a first preview it has the potential to be very good.
Both the composer and lyricist were in tonight.
I'm not sure what they have done but the playing space seemed much larger than usual.

And how did the audience respond to a show that has never been done here before?

Helper costumes have been finished by then at least!

Both girls were good, could be better when settled.
It got great applause and cheers, but alot of people related to the show were in, including Mark Shenton who was taking notes. It would be unfair to review this first preview

Enjoying it so far. Girls in good voice in my opinion.
Have never listened to the songs before, so gone in blind other than knowing it's about conjoined twins.

Great so far at matinee, wondering if they have one less in the cast than they are supposed to or needed, seems a gap in ensemble in several scenes?
But other than that, really good. Lovely to see both Laura and Louise have complex parts to get their teeth into. I've never seen Louise do anything other than Waterbabies or Wicked and this is a very different time. Aldo my favourite Laura performance since Parade.
Didn't know the score before and loving it. Costumes seem OK so far, yesterday's issues sorted out?

Speaking to a friend in the cast, they are a cast member downas he popped his knee last night.
I loved this. Apart from the two Big songs (who will love me as I am and I will never leave you) I knew nothing of the score or show and I really enjoyed it. Louise and Laura are fantastic as Daisy and Violet. Such strong performances for them to get their teeth into.
I'd recommend it to people. It's different. Thought the staging was excellent too. I've only Been to Southwark in an 'audience on two sides' scenario so having that section that was face on was great.
