Thought this was pretty good. Pin cushion man is back on, and not using a stick, so good to see he's recovered! Like others I booked early and I'm sure I booked in the central block (but clearly have no way of checking!) and found myself in the right hand side block. Odd. Do you not still have the email confirmation they sent when you booked? Seats numbers are on there.

I do, and the seat numbers are the same - but no way of knowing whether those seats were originally located on the central block or not.

My seats are C18 & 19. It doesn't specify which block. Theatremonkey?

booked for this tomorrow night, got an isle seat on the stage left bank so close to centre. looking forward to the show, I only know a handful of the songs but I hope it good.
I really like the pictures that have been put up so far of the set, from reading reviews on here it doesn't sound like it has Thom Sutherlands sparkle but hopefully its still good!

A14 and 15? I think when I booked they were dead centre but I just want to make sure?

Two and a half hours, almost bang on.

Looking at this seating plan, it seems odd that there are a lot more side seats than front seats. Even odder when a lot of reviewers on here have commented that it's mostly played to the front.

Ok, when did the Southwark Playhouse stop doing food? The Italian market is closed Monday too, I have a very hungry and grumpy husband who had doubts about the show already....

It's too late to help but I took Westend Wendy's advice and went to Nando's - it's close, cheap and quick. Hope you have a good evening anyway.

My fault for reading this thread, but I feel quite fed up with the subject of this show and I haven't even seen it yet! I booked months ago as it sounded promising but the enthusiasm I must once have had has totally deserted me and I am not looking forward to it in the least; plus at 2 hours 30, the running time is close to my tolerance. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised in the event but I really must stop booking musicals at this venue and wait for a play.

Isn't 2.30 the length of just about everything in the West End, where shows above or below that mark are the exception?

I think it used to be, but I seem to have seen a lot of interval-free plays lately which really pushed challenged my capacity to sit without a break as they were up to 2 hours long - e.g. The Pacifist's Guide at the NT, though just after I saw it, the format was changed to introduce an interval. I also have The Red Barn coming up, which again is a similar length and interval-free. Conversely I've seen, or am due to see longer productions, e.g. Father Comes Home From The Wars (3 hours, but 2 intervals ) and iHo (3 hours 30, 2 intervals. However, I always find musicals tougher as I miss the dialogue, so the score has to be really good to compensate.

You've lost me at plays.

That's the thing, you see: a decent musical can, and imo should, appeal to people who like plays just as much or more, and I can cite plenty of examples which do, but all the recent offerings I have seen at Southwark PLayhouse have either had too little dialogue or none, and I find the sung-through type particularly monotonous. It would be really helpful to know in advance what to expect, but how?

You've come to the right place! Ask here..The most resourceful and kind theatre folk on the net reside here (I tend to snap every now and then, but generally I count myself as part of the kind folk).

It is. Meh. It was vanilla. And both of them slightly too grown up for these roles, I think. Having said that, still excited to see it in a week.

I was so looking forward to this as I'm a huge Laura fan. I agree with an earlier poster who enjoys stories told from an oblique angle but this was more than oblique. I don't need to come out of the theatre beaming with delight at a happy ending but this is a 'feel bad' show only enlivened by Louise and Laura singing 2 wonderful songs. A strange evening all round.
