Book all about the movie. Really fascinating. Quite revelatory in fact. Treat yourself for Xmas or drop heavy hints.

Agreed. I thought the chapter about all the European cast members who had fled the Nazis was especially interesting. A sure sign that it's a good book is that gave me ideas about new avenues to explore, including several movies made around the same time that I had never seen. After reading it, I ran out to my local library and borrowed a DVD of All Through the Night (with Conrad Veidt/Major Strasser), which was great fun.
