When you see performances of the quality of Staunton, Quast and Forbes not nominated, it just makes you question the process.
Is this just the populist whoever wants to vote type of poll or are there quality controls in place?
I mean, look at some of the others nominated in those categories and Tracie Bennett was fine but it's a song and a witty quip, much less worthy of a nomination than others.
At least those who nominated for plays seem to know what they are doing.

I'm pretty sure the public *theoretically* decides the WOS nominations, but I imagine there's some sort of "quality control" to ensure certain people are or aren't nominated.

How can Kara Lily Hayworth not be nominated ? I have not seen 80% of those shows, but I know a brilliant performance when I see one.

Had no one picked up on the fact the Original Cast Recording of Dreamgirls has been nominated, not the new one? This is where the issue has lied, with not being able to specify. I've seen the same issue on twitter regarding poster. People voted for the Alice Fearn portrait poster, not the Original London one. It really needs some work.

It did actually say in the 'fine print' for the Best Cast Recording and Best Poster categories that it would be the original album/artwork that WoS would consider for any show that was nominated. I don't think it's fair to expect everyone to read all the T&Cs for a fan-driven awards ceremony like this, so it's not surprising that there's some confusion over it. I also saw a lot of people on twitter saying they were going to nominate current cast members of long-running shows in the Best Performance categories, clearly not having read that only shows that opened in the last year were eligible in those categories, so maybe WoS should make the eligibility criteria more obvious for every award.
