oh, i know I can not sing a note so I can't judge on that, but oh the production - yikes. Terrible tv - not as bad as ITV's From Pop Star to Opera Star a few years ago. Still scarred from that.

I agree. I really liked his performance in sixpence. Plus he had a lot of dancing to do.
Did anyone else think Jessca Hinds had been eating a bag of black Jack's before she came on stage?

'I will hit the notes.'
....
Annoys me - there's other songs she could have done!!!! Not her fault she doesn't have a belty range.

I think the judges are on something. Crap performances and told “you could actually be in the show, 10 stars!”. Like hell they could. And the best so far gets the lowest score. What a farce. I didn't think Sixpence deserved a low score. It’s a great number that was slowed down and massively simplified from its last production, with zero oomph. I was expecting an awful lot more to be honest. What has actor Barney Walsh acted in?

Never thought I'd be excited to see CHF and ALW...
Weird casting by ITV for the 'celebs.'

Never heard of Barney but he's a dead looker for his father and sounds like him too.

I recognised one of the ensemble in the Guys and Dolls routine from 42nd Street. Sorry can't remember his name but was the tall guy at the back in the routine.

ALW said Heathers like it was HEDWIG.
'IT'S ALTERNATIVE.'
He just seems to think he's breaking ground.
MAKE THIS STOP.

OK - ensemble are credited but ITV made the screen tiny!

God that was grim! Only thing worse than Peston singing was Barrowman's hideous suit.Every politician will now be able to take the piss out of him for years so it's not all bad. That song from Cinderella doesn't get any better. So so so mediocre.

TV commissioners really are determined to do literally anything other than let musical theatre professionals stage a show and broadcast it aren't they?

The choice of songs was pretty lack lustre as were most of the 'stars'. As for the panel's star ratings, think they pulled them out of a hat. They seemed to bare no resemblance to the performance. Still it was good to see musical theatre again, shows how desperate we are if this is what it takes!

Thought Barney Walsh was pretty good and deserved higher marks he did sing and dance and use props unlike many other performances.... and looked adorable 😊, I think the budget ran out for peston !! ?? Whoever put him in the fancy dress cheap suit ? The ensemble around him all looked great .... and you thought someone would have shown him how to wear his hat Freddie parrot face Davis sprang to mind poor bloke

Two thoughts-more might come later
I don't like Rober Preston as a political journalist, let alone as a performer! Definitely the weakest one up there.
Does anyone else think that when Elaine Paige laughs she sounds like a poppet?

I have woken up traumatised and can only blame this programme...as people have said , why not just do a full on musicals show? The people that I thought would be good were not and the ones I assumed would be terrible did not let me down.
edit- Rinder has just tweeted a picture of himself as George III. What on earth?

I loved the opening. It was nice for the ensemble to have some work and great to see some good dancers on TV. The scores were daft. And not needed. They could have just given comments.

And when she goes off on one on the radio I really laugh out loud along with her (not the same kind of laugh I hasten yo add). Cheers me up no end, but I am easily entertained.

Yes, I too am very much in the pro-laugh camp. 😂 It's even available on BBC Sounds. How many people can say that?
