I've seen the elimination where The Pin was finally used, so I think I am about to start Finals Week. I noticed from the little 'what happened next' thing at the end that George has taken on the one who just left at The Press Club. Good on him. She was my dark horse and I've quite liked her throughout.
Surely Sarah has to win this? She's consistently in a different stratosphere to the others. She's like a machine. (Though Ben was pretty amazing in that awful service challenge where they had to single-handedly produce food for 50 people in 3 hours.)

Going into spoilers as I'm up to date on episodes and today was the first elimination of finals week. I won't quote the last thing I wrote on here because I don't know how to do that in spoilers, but, having picked her out as my winner, I can't believe Sarah's gone - or not, at least, got into the grand finale, as they so annoyingly insist on calling it. I suppose it didn't help that there was a big dessert element *drink* and she's not a dessert person. But to have what were the best 3 cooks up for elimination was great telly and I enjoyed that episode. (Though I think these pressure test offerings look messy, with too much stuff on the plate.)
Ben played a blinder with the liquorice.....and it so nearly back-fired! And the judges are obviously robots programmed to love Tamara's food, whatever she throws on the plate - liquorice flavoured strawberries with liquorice flavoured fennel with liquorice flavoured crumbs with liquorice flavoured ice cream/semi fredo or whatever it was - I had some paint to watch drying while she was talking. Bleugh.
So, Steven lost Bake-Off, Sarah not even in the finals of MCA - I'm not picking a Strictly winner as it would jinx them!
Sarah's going leaves the competition wide open I think. I hope she realises her dream.

FINALLY!
(And stop yer bloomin' smiling. You lost! So take your boring ice cream and your stupid dumplings and your brownies doggie doo doos (oh but that looked vile!) and toddle off back across the outback....)

I haven't posted on this thread for a while because I accidently found out who won a couple of weeks ago so thought I should steer clear.
In case anyone is still watching but hasn't seen the final yet I won't give the name of the winner, but can I just say THANK GOD IT'S ALL OVER. Personally I was pleased with the winner, definitely the best cook won for me.

can I just say THANK GOD IT'S ALL OVER Sadly I feel the same - though mine was actually over quicker than most as my Sky recording cut off about 5 seconds after the winner was announced. So I have no idea how much they all cried when the plate was hoisted! I do love this show, but this series has been a bit dull - they seemed to be allowed to do their own thing more than normal and it was definitely the I scream series (I really did when the churner came out in the final). Ben making ice cream in 2 out of 3 rounds was ridiculous! (Though he was pretty original with his blood flavoured one, I'll give him that! Ouch!) Whilst I agree the right one won overall, I did think the scoring in that last round was a bit weird as Diana's fruit was definitely lacking compared to Ben's.

I was wondering about this the other day but just seen a trailer for the new season. Airs on W next Wednesday (29th August). Gosh I love seeing a good crumb on a plate and little George screw up his nose and exclaim “Yum!” after banging his spoon on the table.

Well, a couple of weeks in and I honestly think this programme needs a reinvention test of its own. I don't normally get into all this politically correct stuff but it would seem, just like Bakeoff, that they have ticked a multitude of boxes rather than pick people who can actually, well, you know.... cook. I mean. If you're in elimination and are given carte blanche to show what you can actually do then corn fritters or sponge cake shouldn't really keep you in the game, and yet they do because someone else's sponge cake is even drier than yours. Ice cream is making me scream, again. Why do it when there isn't time for it to set?
I was killing myself laughing at all the hysteria surrounding Nigella. I mean, they were all so totally delirious they didn't even realise that Nigella had sent her own waxwork in her stead. And Super Annoying Constantly Snivelling Girl is driving me mad. She needs to Shut Up now or they won't even let her in to Fortnum and Masons....I mean - what a stupid prize. Not to mention expensive. Why not a master class with Nigella? Tea? Really? At F&Ms? Ben got it spot-on when he moaned "Tea with Nigella? What the...? I'd raaaather go to the paaaab!"
I used to love this show so much. I really hope it gets back to how it was very very soon or I'm out.

I still think this is the best Masterchef out of the lot. I already know who wins but I still watch it. Some contestants I don’t like, there always is, but I still like the format. The British version is so easy compared to this.
Plus it has Shannon Bennett 😉

I still think this is the best Masterchef out of the lot. Yes, you're right. And it's hotting up - though we're losing some of the ones I'm already liking. The elimination taste test is one of my favourite rounds (I was so sorry to see who went after that though) and that cook-along-with-Ramsey yesterday had me forgetting to breathe for most of it. Absolutely brilliant stuff! Now if only we could. Stop. Gordon Ramsey punctuating his. Sentences in the most. Stunning amazing ridiculous. Places, I would be a lot happier. (I am also wondering which comic book hero he was reading about before he blow dried his hair that morning.) I think Hoda's amazing, I also like the Italian guy (whose name escapes me - Aldo?) and Ben, who seems such a generous, lovely bloke and Samira. I don't think any of them are outstanding this year though, and a lot of them are pretty dire half-trick ponies. And yes. Shannon Bennett.😍

Never miss it. Best version of Masterchef there is. I agree, but I'm currently enjoying season 5 of Masterchef Junior USA and blubbing as each of those amazing kids gets eliminated. Ramsey is slightly more bearable than he is in the adult version, but he's just taken a 10 year old's frying pan and hurled it into the sea, saying that the fish is so undercooked it can swim back to its mother!

Well, that's my winner gone. (Yesterday's elimination referred to in the spoiler) Much as I love Ben and his journey *drinks* he couldn't even put up a 1970s school dinner pudding. It looked like all my childhood nightmares rolled into one - to this day I cannot even bear to smell sponge cake, coconut or jam. Bleugh.
Hoda was one of my favourites for the final, along with Brendan, Sashi and the lovely Khanh (not sure about the spelling and I'm not googling.....made that mistake the year Trent won, managing to spoiler myself very early in the series.)
Chloe, Jess and Reece need to go.

Well, I have just loved the second half of this year's competition - cooking for Prince Charles! That was something else. (Though it was noted that he didn't actually eat anything!)
Today in the semi final, however, I am absolutely gutted. One person had such a brilliant cook and one had pretty much their first ever disaster. And we didn't even find out what's happened to him - it didn't say at the end. And I can hardly google until it's all over, can I?

IT'S BACK!
Tonight at 7PM on W. Last ever series for the 3 judges amid some kafoofle that I'm not googling for obvious reasons. I'll miss them, but maybe it's time....especially if they give the gig to Shannon or Curtis (or both?☺️)
Was anyone watching the Masterchef USA Junior that has just finished on W? Those tiny kids are truly something else.

Ugh. Fakella week. I hope the producers have the foresight to keep her well away from all naked flames.
I have to say this year they seem to have actually chosen people who can cook! I'm quite impressed so far - and they're fast getting rid of the one-trick-curry people. I know it's early days, but the guy who led the winning tag team (Charlie?) was brilliant, as was Joe who sussed out he might have been given wrong information as to the 'hero ingredient' (hate that term.) I'm also rather liking Derek.
No one's too annoying....yet...but give it time..... Prince Harry might get there... I can't believe 2 people wasted those immunity pins when they were up against about 10 others for elimination. Madness. As for that chef who sliced a bit of raw fish and then, surprise surprise, lost...shame on him!
And that team challenge outside was awesome. Pity one of them had to lose.
