You are from my Grange Hill generation, Zammo and all that, where if you looked at drugs it would kill you.

The score was good, the book not so much. Still think its West End run was way too short.

Great score. Everything else was messy…including Darius!

Exactly - it had some good tunes that were memorable. The set design was brilliant, the coreography was inconsistent, but the lighting design stands out for me - the use of sound and lighting in Boys of 41 made that moment so moving and engaging (live and DVD). Didn't love Darius - a bit wooden, but the cast otherwise excelled. The book, as said, was a bit flimsy at times, but at others, in my opinion, did pack a bit of a punch. The run was way too short, and if it were to open now I honestly think it would run longer, especially in a small theatre the size of the Phoenix - as an overall show it wasn't musically bland with modern sounds and rhythms, but upbeat moments, sad musical tones and some genuine character.
