Anyone watching this? The description on my TV guide made it sound incredibly dry but there's actually some top theatrical talent involved. Helen Mirren narrating bits, some War Horse, and Russell Tovey and Alfie Boe have just turned up.

I'm not usually one for these kinds of commemorations. I find them a bit too 'worthy' for my taste but I have to say, I've found this very moving and really engaging. And that choir is stunning!

Very very moving, lest we forget indeed.

It's on my list to watch, as a former History teacher I at times have WW1/WW2 fatigue but whenever I watch something like this I remember not only why it's so important to remember these times but actually why I wanted to study and teach history to begin with. I love (if that's the right word) the way they chose to put together these services, and in fact across the board the centenary work has been really excellent.

Humbling is the best word I can come up.

I've never been to the Battlefields, and it's very much on my 'to do' list- I'm always struck by how informed and respectful the tours, as well as the places themselves are (by reports from friends).
