Saw the matinee today and absolutely loved it. Having read on here about ticket sales, it was great to see all four tiers open and the grand circle completely packed to the point nobody could move in their seats.
On to the performance, the entire cast was fantastic. Charlie Stemp is brilliant as Arthur, a real discovery. I found he has pure stage-presence, he charms the audience, acting, singing and dancing all on point. What also really pleased me is that he has fantastic chemistry with all on stage characters. Vivien Parry performs the comedy of Mrs Walshingham brilliantly, and even though Helen is a smaller role, although what I read on here I was expecting a tiny role, Emma Williams is possibly the best thing about this, I am so glad she appears in a few songs, and at the curtain call you can tell she loves what she does. Today we had the understudy for Ann, Rebecca Jayne Davies. She was amazing, I don't know if she went on in Chichester, or if this was her first performance. Brilliant voice and fantastic interpretation, you wouldn't know she wasn't Devon-Elise.
Now to the score, brilliant. I couldn't differentiate between the old and new, a credit to Stiles and Drewe for capturing the essence of the piece. I definitely went out humming the tunes, a rarity for me this year. The set was simple, but worked. I liked the use of projections, and how the revolve allowed lots of different settings to be created.
There's nothing I would change about this show, I loved it and 100% my favourite new show that I've seen this year. I will definitely be returning, many times.

Is the cast recording on sale at the theatre yet? If so, how much are they charging for it?

'Back The Right Horse' has been completely rewritten this week. It's now more about critics in theatre.

I was under the impression that it had already been recorded live at Chichester, so a funny move to re-write a song that isn't what will be on the cast recording!

Yeah, Charlie Stemp said in an interview that it was recorded over the last 3 performances in Chichester, so it'll have that version of Back The Right Horse on it.

To be fair, if the Miss Saigon live recording is anything to go by, Cameron will have made this very well.

Oops I clearly didn't look close enough!
Live recordings are only made because they are cheaper. It's a shame Mackintosh is being so stingey. Then again he's probably about to lose an awful lot of £ with this daft transfer.

Does anyone know if the Balcony or Upper Circle are closed for many performances? It was closed on Tuesday evening last week, but I gather it was open from Friday onwards!

Just got out of tonights performance. Was sat in the Upper Circle as it was open and full, the Balcony was closed though. As for the show, I loved it! Charlie was phenomenal and he deserves a nomination, if not a win come Olivier time! The whole cast were fantastic, especially Emma too, which admittedly was the main draw for me. Sure she doesn't do as much as some would like but whar more could her character do really? The audience seemed to love it, especially the Upper Circl2 which gave a standing ovation and were clapping and cheering throughout. A fantastic show! Shame it isn't selling as highly, I'd go again. Also, that rain effect really was wasted. It looked great for the 10 seconds it was used.

I paid only a fiver with my TodayTix balance, but I would of paid more! So joyous and happy! the choreography was insane and Pick Out a Simple Tune brought the house down! Shame thet didn't put the balcony on sale prior now! if the Stalls and the Upper were full on a Monday night, could of gotten a few extra bums in seats haha!

LOVED this tonight. It was virtually full on 3 levels - we had Day Seats on the 2nd row Stalls and there were a lot of comps in tonight, but it was really really good. First act was a tad long and dragged a bit, but when they got going they really got going...so much energy on that stage.
Charlie Stemp - what a star - would put money on him getting an Olivier nomination at least.

They've spent so much money on marketing, it deserves to sell.

I saw it tonight and while it's not the deepest show and the book is a bit weak, it's a nice way to spend an evening. Charlie Stemp is excellent as Arthur and I think he'll get nominated for an Olivier. I quite liked the new songs with Pick Out a Simple Tune being the best but nothing can top the original songs like Money to Burn and Flash, Bang, Wallop.
