That sounds sensible. I'd guess Francesca as 2nd Ellie too, since she's shorter and plays younger (although there's also the possibility of Collette Guitart, the female swing). I'd also guess that the Bens and Toyan/Sharif might be 2nd covers to each other. Although now that I think about it, I'm throwing in a wild guess at Ben Kerr (principal March Hare) as 2nd cover Jack, entirely because he plays slightly older than the rest of the male ensemble. |

Jason Capewell was on as Vince Fontaine on Opening Night in Birmingham, he is often Resident Director on a number of touring musicals but has played Vince on previous tours and wasn't listed in programme.

Jason only did the one show in Birmingham, George did all the others, I assume he was off and putting Llandyll on as Vince would've resulted in a very unbalanced ensemble (despite the powers that be clearly not considering this when they cut the ensemble originally)

I always find it slightly disrespectful when it isn't announced or a notice put up that an understudy may be on. Last week at B'ham Rep in Jane Eyre, Melanie Marshall wasn't on one night and her understudy Dami Olukoya was on. As there was no photo of Dami in the program, a lot of people would not have known it was her, as she is a fair bit younger than Melanie a few of us in the audience were talking and saying "We don't think that's Melanie" at the interval.
It was only a couple of days later when I was at theatre again to see The Whip Hand in the Door, I saw Dami walking through the concourse and said "Nice performance the other night". She said "Thanks, oh you must have seen the night I was on" that it was confirmed I'd seen her perform.

Just to bump my own thread up a bit, does anyone know the understudy lists for any shows opened in the last 6 months or new casts ? It can be London/Tour/Regional. It's always interesting to keep track and to maybe get the chance to see people we may not know about in other roles.
