I feel Madame du Maurier is a role designed for a long standing female leading lady. Screw it, lets throw Elaine Paige in there. Ooh yeah, or maybe Ruthie Henshall?

No no no..poor Ruthie. I don't think she's quite senior enough for that role actually. She's still in the "MILF" category. I am fed up waiting for her to play Diana in Next to Normal. That role absolutely needs to be hers if the show ever opens in the UK.

I think she was 52 when she first played the role. If Ruthie were to play it she'd be 50 by the time it opens.

Unless it has a major overhaul for London, it won't last 2 months.

I think the only people getting excited about it are those that didn't actually see it in New York.

I'm not so sure if Bat Out Of Hell will end up transferring...sales in Manchester really aren't great at all.

Yeah whilst this was perfectly passable entertainment on Broadway I would be completely OK with it never coming at all. There are so many better American musicals that we haven't seen yet. 2 months is a bit cynical, Gary Barlow and the brand recognition from the film will propel it along for a year but not much longer.

Unless Alfie Boe turns up. But after his less than successful NY run that's not that likely.

Being part of the "I've seen it in New York" club, I'm luke-warm about it. I won't rush out to buy a full price ticket straightaway, but depending on the casting I'd be happy to see it again.

Exactly that, give me a good cast and I'll certainly buy a cheapish ticket and go again (this is mainly because I'm broke/a cheapskate)

Exactly. Haven't seen it on Broadway and yet I couldn't care less about this show. Interestingly though you must have some amount of care for it to follow people's reactions on the show's thread. The productions I couldn't care less about are never even glanced at.

Personally I can't wait to see it. Between this and 'The Girls' I want to get value for money out of my 'Tax That, Barlow!' placard.

I really hope Alfie isn't in this. He's a good singer, but this is just not a part for him. Because Ramin won't be available I'd love to see either Hadley Fraser or Norman Bowman as Barrie

Norman would be great as Barrie. He understudied the part in the original Leicester production.

I saw Norman Bowman on for Barrie in Leicester - he had 1 scheduled show & I went up for it - and I thought he was excellent, in some ways even better than Julian Ovenden who looked a bit young for a man railing about middle age. I don't know how much the role of Barrie has changed since then though as obviously I haven't seen the re-written version. I also suspect the producers may want more of a "name", as so often is the case.

Ah, I knew he was in it but I didn't know he also understudied the part of Barrie. He has a great voice. And it would be nice to see Barrie played by an actual Scotsman.

Yep, Norman definitely had a better Scottish accent than Julian!
