Didn't he say so in that clip? (I can't watch it right now.) Oh did he? Maybe I missed it...I clocked him mentioning the US tour but not that he'd be in it. I'll watch again now. EDIT: "You can catch Alfie in Finding Neverland on Broadway through August, before he joins the show on its US Tour, then in London." So he's going to tour with it AND do London!

It's difficult to judge properly just on that performance and not in the confines of the show itself but i;m not sure i liked it. He has an amazing voice but i feel like his voice just doesn't suit that song and the song isn't made to suit that voice. It doesn't click for me at all. I can't image i;d enjoy him in the role to be quite honest but again we'll have to wait and see.

Please don't let him be Barrie in London. I was excited about the transfer until they said Alfie would be in it. Now I'm not even sure I'll go see it unless I can book to see his understudy. I really want Ramin Karimloo to be Barrie in London.

Well. That performance was, as anticipated. Completely wrong.

Must agree with those who are saying that Alfie Boe just doesn't fit. Really wish it was Hadley Fraser. As soon as I heard about the production coming over to London, he was the first person I thought would make a good J.M Barrie.
I'll still go and see the show regardless. Maybe I'll be surprised.

I think that song needs a gentler voice.

Check this out. For me, this is proof that Ramin would be an amazing Barrie

I don't know the musical at all but I rather enjoyed this as a standalone song. Boe only sounded properly 'operatic' a couple of times, and for me it didn't get in the way of the song. And frankly, having listened to some excruciating MT belts over the years, it's nice to hear a voice that's got some timbre behind it when it lets rip. Those hosts, though. Heavens. It's people like that that make you realise The Muppets were spot on.

Thanks for the link. I saw it on Broadway and this proves how miscast Alfie is. This is not an opera.
Ramin cannot play every role though he is perfect for anything. I believe Hadley is doing more drama with only a few musical gigs. Look at what he has been doing, far away from MT. I am fairly sure he will be with Ramin in July at the Palladium even if he is not an announced guest.

I might sound like a real philistine here, but is Alfie Boe even famous to the general public? TBH I had no idea who he was before the Les Miz 25th anniversary. I wasn't impressed with him on the DVD, but when I saw the show live at the Queens I thought his voice was fantastic, despite not being typically Valjean.
I agree that Ramin would be well cast in this, but I think he ought to break away from the Phantom/Phantom II/Les Miz/big belty power ballad scores. Sure, this IS what he does and does it damn well, but I think he might need to branch out a little.

From the moment I hears the Finding Neverland cast recording I thought Ramin would be perfect for it

I love Ramin as a performer but don't think his voice fits the score. He could play the part and sing it, don't get me wrong. But I'm not sure his voice would suit the songs that well.
For me Hadley Fraser is a better fit. Dean Chisnall could be a great Barrie too I think.

That's exactly the reason he should be in Finding Neverland. He'd be pushing his boundaries. Alfie is pushing boundaries just not to the desired result. Pushing boundaries is all well and good in the proper setting this is not it. In your wildest dreams picture him leading the pirates for the big Stronger number. No. As far as Ramin goes he has his lovers. I find him fine but not spectacular he has his way of always belting, and I do not like the Bluegrass at all, so do not miss him one way or the other. There are others I would prefer.

Who should play Sylvia in the West End production if LMK doesn't reprise her role? I think Louise Dearman would make a fabulous Sylvia.

If Laura doesn't come over, I truly cannot think of a better actress to take on the role. And if Laura originates, Louise should replace should it run long enough to have a replacement cast.

It has just been way too long since Louise was in a West End show. I couldn't think of a better role for her to make her West End return.

Given the amount to speculation and with Baz's announcement, it seems certain that Hamilton will be at the Victoria Palace. Such a shame, because the entire area is such a construction zone. I actually passed by it the other day and took a picture of the exterior. The entire theatre has been more or demolished from the inside. However given that it's Cameron, if he does half the work he did with the Prince Edward (which looks absolutely gorgeous) I think we'll have a very nice new refurbishment.
