Plus, let us not forget, no one thought Charlie would last this long when it first opened!

Casting for this has already been done so in my opinion it does not fit. Alfe Boe is not right. Ramin Karminloo responded to a tweet he tweeted the other day that someone after the show told him he would be good in Les Miz. Doesn't that sort of tell it. Way too much gravitas. Cannot for the life of me see him performing Stronger. And I have seen the show.

A friend of mine who likes the show and likes Alfie basically said the same thing after she saw him last week. She said he's doing his best, but the fit just isn't right.
Here's the tweet you mentioned.

I think it's ending on a good run.
The show is going out tour across North America & coming to the West-End - let's hope it too can sustain to a 1-2 year run.

Same here, I loved this show, it's nice though that LMK has remained from beginning to end. It's comforting to know though that it still has a life ahead of it now for us in the UK.

I really love this show, sad it didn't do better on Broadway. I think this is a show that perhaps will do better in London. I really think Laura will carry on with the show. Interesting to hear about this new 'Finding Neverland movie'. With the extreme negative response to the show, is making it into a movie really a good idea?

I suspect the movie is just a pipe dream by Harvey Weinstein, he's been desperate to get Finding Neverland to work in any shape or form. I dont get why people get sad when shows announce they're closing, it's the nature of the business and shows have to close if they've not done well to make way for new shows.

I'm pleased the London run of this is still happening as I didn't have time to see it in NYC.

Laura really gives the role of Sylvia so much heart. I went last Summer. I was disappointed when Matthew Morrison wasn't on, but the true star if the show was Laura for me.

The original movie was so beautiful, it's made enough the made this musical but to then remake the movie using the musical as it's base is an appalling thought and an insult to the original movie.
However, I agree it's unlikely to ever happen. It's Harvey just trying to save face.
I'm not sure it will fare any better in london, the Gary Barlow name will mean more here so that's an advantage. I have a feeling harvey and his ego will want a prestigious theatre (e.g drury lane) for it if it transfers, and that could prove to be a costly error.
Personally you couldn't pay me to sit through it again unless it's redesigned and rewritten but it will be interesting to see how it fares here. And who they cast. Alfie got very mixed reviews on broadway due to it not really being suitable for his voice, which makes me wonder if they will rethink him for london

I think that if the show went into a huge theatre (e.g. Drury Lane), then it could close quite early; one year maybe? However, if it goes to a smaller theatre (e.g. aldwych), then it has a better chance of staying for longer.

Not sad it's closing, just sad it was kind of a disaster. Just feel it deserved better.

I haven't heard him in the role but I'm really not convinced his voice suits it. Plus in the production photos he looks too old to play Barrie. If they want the younger generation of theatre goers to consider this then Mr Boe seems like a bad choice. Plus it would be nice to see an actual Scotsman in the part! Can Barrowman grow a beard?!

I still think Hadley Fraser would be a good fit.

Alfie got very mixed reviews on broadway due to it not really being suitable for his voice, which makes me wonder if they will rethink him for london Totally agree with all of this!! The film is gorgeous and so emotional. The musical I found to be more style over content, too over the top, and with not enough heart. Some of the songs were qute frankly bizarre too! (when the kids say "remember what Mr Barrie always says", then proceed to whip out a ukulele and sing a song, the lyrics of which are never actually mentioned by J.M Barrie in the show!?!). Ooh and all the odd jokes (the 'Cheers' one... Why?), the parts that made light of the rifts in the relationship between Barrie and his wife and significantly lowered the stakes of the relationship between Sylvia and Barrie. The strange, childish 'what are you doing in my dream' song, with the cartoonish comedy relief maids. For me, the musical ignored everything that made the film so poignant. Yes some moments were pretty, and the last bit did have the wow factor, but honestly it was such a disappointment. I dragged my non theatre loving friend along, and despite being a HUGE Peter Pan fan, she found that it was only okay too. Boe seems like an odd casting choice for me. I'd have gone for someone a bit... glitzier, I guess? Alfie Boe is one of my favourite male voices, but this isn't the sort of matchup between role and performer which really grabs me. Off the top of my head I can't think who I'd personally cast in the role, but I'd go with someone a bit more along the lines of Tom Chambers? Or someone like that? I know a lot of people loved this show, but it really did nothing for me. But hey, I guess you can't like everything, can you? As for a movie... the film is wonderful, I just think it needs replacing. And does it really have a big enough fanbase to make another second movie worth it?

I re-watched the film recently and was shocked at how syrupy I found it. I don't think it has aged well.
Increasingly, I worry about some of the reports that have emerged about the darker side of Barrie's nature. A saccharine musical is hardly likely to win me over.
