Ugh. As if the first film wasn't enough. The Prequal, with Meryl Streep somehow playing Donna again, starts filming in August in Croatia.
I know the first one was a huge box office hit but must there be a prequal?? I can't believe Benny and Bjorn are all on board.

I can't find this anywhere online. Are you sure it's not like that time a boy at my school, who'd just moved back from Germany, told me he'd been to see Home Alone 90?

I was told Prequal by a member of the crew. I was a surprised a you. But that's not to say he got it right.
Sequal or Prequal, it's still a desperate cash cow.

I remember reading a while ago that they were looking at doing a sequel, where Sophie has a baby. I could just about see why they'd do a sequel, but a prequel?

I know the idea of a sequel has been thrown about for years - but I didn't think anything was confirmed or even really speculated?

If Meryl is still playing Donna then it can't be a prequel as the only plausible time period for it would be the summer Donna got pregnant 20 years prior to when Mamma Mia is set.
A sequel would make more sense but seems unnecessary.

Are there many great Abba songs left?
Fernando comes to mind and some twee songs like Ring, Ring and When I Kissed The Teacher

I don't know about anybody else, but I've now read the words "prequel" and "sequel" so much that they're starting to look very weird.

There's still a big catalogue of songs to choose from. The thing that makes me wary is the fact that the original MM had the pick of the entire range and could get the balance right between storytelling and greatest hits. A sequel / prequel could work if the song choice is as careful.

I hope they can find a space for Head Over Heels. That's one of my favourite Abba songs.

Angeleyes please. I wouldn't be against a character called Nina or Helen!! Some of their best songs are not the Greatest Hits so this could be good. I hope they've got a good plot planned.

I'm pretty sure Meryl will be too busy filming the new Steven Spielberg movie which is set to open in December.

Songs that spring to mind that haven't been used - Marionette, Cassandra, The Way Old Friends Do, Fernando, The King Has Lost His Crown, Nina - Pretty Ballerina, Me & I, Summer Night City, Lovers Live A Little Longer, Kisses Of Fire.
I don't think Waterloo was used in the film, either (and only used in the stage show in the megamix at the end).

Personally I think it's a shame that Under Attack was not included in the film

So many great album tracks left plus as others have said 'Angeleyes' and 'Summer Night City'! Scrap Streep and start a narrative (around a re-cast) Sky & Sophie. Mezza can cameo but no more singing please.

The Piper, Like an Angel Passing Through My Room, My Love My Life, When All is Said and Done, are among my favourites.
Come to think of it, either of the last two could be the title (but not terribly snappy!)

So, I stand corrected (said the man in the orthopedic shoe!)
A friend who's just been on holiday with a costumer in the 'biz, said that while they were away, he was contacted about working on this and that filming kicks off pretty soon.
No word concerning leading ladies though. The Spielberg Meryl is doing starts filming May 22nd and he is very good at quick shoots in his old age, since ditching the rubber shark. So, who knows?!!!

Considering it does start filming in a few months, they are putting the crew together very last minute.

Very odd there is no mention of this anywhere else. Youd have thought talk of this would have at least reached the film industry websites/media
