Anyone going to the Friends' rehearsal tomorrow? (if you are it has been changed to 12.30.) Looking forward in particular to seeing 'Strapless' Christopher Wheeldon's new ballet based on a John Singer Sargent painting.

Ouch. Strapless really missed the mark for me, wobbly narrative, dancing not exactly inspired and way too long for what it is. Though they did go all out on the costume budget.
It felt like a musical without the singing. Not that anyone could have come up with songs to work with the forgettable and slightly annoying Turnage score.

I agree - I was disappointed with Strapless too - it all felt too literal, though, as you say, it looked great. Such a shame as I loved his 'The Winter's Tale' so much. Within the Golden Hour was by far my favourite of the three pieces in this Mixed Programme.
Lynette, I enjoy the membership largely for the rehearsals - I like that it is so inexpensive (my second row Amphitheatre seat was only £5) and so casual (everyone tucking into their M&S sandwiches on the terrace.)
