Anyone saw tickets being returned for this yet? Or should I just wait until closer to the date that interests me? Tickets have been returned and put back on sale online pretty regularly. There's no pattern in terms of when they go up (see the older posts here for some idea, as there are occasional notifications about tickets) but if you're able it's probably worth checking the NT website every so often, as the tickets tend to disappear pretty quickly each time. I suppose more will go up closer to the time, as people may hold out for now if they're not sure, plus you'll get the Friday Rush tickets. Thank you, I was stalking the NT site for AiA returns, so I should be fine once I find the ticket for myself

There's a ticket up now btw for August. I can see it's £52 - is that top price level? Or the top price is £65?

I don't know - it's gone now. I got one in the pit for a preview so it was cheaper.

£52 is the top price, Friday and Saturday. £47 during the week, £37 / £32 during previews. Monkey to the rescue! Thank you

Slightly more info in this synopsis ( it's not particularly spoilery, more like a longer intro, but I've bracketed it anyway) - The premise of Mosquitoes focuses on two sisters, Alice and Jenny. Alice is a scientist living and working in Geneva, consumed by and defined by her work as a particle physicist at CERN (the European Organisation for Nuclear Research) to the detriment of her troubled teenage son, Luke. Jenny is visiting from the UK. She defines herself by her failure as a parent - she is mourning her daughter, who died of measles as a result of her mother’s refusal to give her the MMR vaccine for fear that it was linked to autism. However the play is far from a conventional family drama. Whilst it is a story of sibling love, it also explores subjects which are closely linked to the practice of science, such as faith and reason, certainty and uncertainty, the pursuit of excellence and scientists’ constant struggle to balance their research ambitions with family life.

^I ordered the play on Amazon the other day and I'm planning to read it before seeing it (if I find a ticket for the date that interests me, that is).

It might be cheaper if they do they playtext as the programme, as NHB often do!

The NT is the only theatre which always produces its own programme and sells the playtext separately, never discounted below £8.
Anyone know why?

^ Okay.
Actually, the RSC sells the playtext at a much-discounted price as a programme for their Mischief shows in The Other Place.

Royal Exchange, Royal Court, Liverpool Everyman, Bluecoat, Printroom all had discounted playtext-programmes (NHB or Faber) for new plays I've seen there. At the Royal Court they seem to go back to full price after the run though the RX and RC both have sales/offers, too. Not sure why the NT should be more expensive, when I imagine it's richer than the others - or does it also assume a much richer clientele who can afford higher prices?

The NT can't discount the playtexts, they need to be able to pay the security staff.

^Ho ho.
I always assumed the discount was also borne in part by the publishers (Nick Hern/ Oberon/ Faber/ Methuen/ etc.) who must sell very many more copies when it's available at the performances, probably tipping the balance to make the publication commercially viable.
The playtexts are discounted at very many theatres, including smaller ones such as the Gate, the Bush, the Yard, The Other Room, Chapter, the Sherman Studio.
But not (or not by much) at the NT, or at West End theatres (including Donmar Warehouse), Almeida and Hampstead (according to other posters above). It seems a shame because I automatically always buy a copy for £3 at the Royal Court and often for £5 at other theatres, but almost never for £8 or more at the NT, Almeida, etc., although I do sometimes later pay list price of £12 or whatever for texts of plays I've seen previously and want to read.

Thanks Baemax. I am checking this quite a lot (every couple of minutes actually) but sometimes I'm getting this error message:
"Sorry! We're having technical difficulties.
We cannot complete your request due to a temporary error. Please try again in a few moments."
Does this happen to anyone else, or am I just special?

Does this happen to anyone else, or am I just special? I had it last week for a few hours (it wasn't letting me open pages), but it was ok again by the evening. When I booked my ticket a few weeks ago I had trouble checking out once I'd added the ticket to my basket and ended up doing it by phone. I didn't have any problems buying a ticket for another production later that week though.
