What the actual hell... is David Bedella even in this?! My second time seeing it this month and he ia off again! I actually really liked Vas last time so I shouldn't complain really but for god sake David!
Out of 7 times I've seen this, Vas has been on as Kevin for 3 of them. I suspect that it won't be long before he officially has the role full time.
The only cast I'm at 7 out of 7 for are: Joe as Benny Sam as Usnavi Cleve as Sonny
As great as they all are, I'd love to time a visit to see the covers in those roles (I hear that Cleve does a brilliant Usnavi as second cover, but he can't tweet he's on until just before the show).
I asked about David recently after he was away last time. It seems one of his family have been very ill so he's been home in America to be with them. He said on his Facebook he was away till May at least. I like him in the role and think he is very talented but I don't see it as an Olivier Award winning performance or role. That really shocked me too!

In Everything I Know Nina says something like "there's a picture of the ladies at Daniela's, you can tell it's from the 90s by the volume of their hair" so wouldn't Daniela have to be at least 30-odd?

Yeah, when I first saw the show with Phillipa that line threw me off, as Phillipa looks nothing like that age whatsoever. But then, that was my first experience of the show. I just accept it now. I still see her as incredibly young because Phillipa looks mid-20's.
Off stage I would agree (i.e. In pictures I've seen). However, on stage the way she plays the character and the things she says, I would have assumed she was 30-35.
It's been a terrific year for the trans-seasonal trouser!
I really like Phillipa as Daniela but definitely prefered Victoria. She had the sassy humour down to a tee and her energy was insane. She stole the show whenever she was on stage.

Victoria & Phillipa are both around the same age in real life in their 30's but Phillipa does seem to come across much younger on stage. I really like both takes and Phillipa has got much better even if the accent drops now and again! I like the gravitas & comedy Victoria brought to Daniella, especially at Southwark. In that version Daniella & Piragua interacted a lot more and even danced together at the club putting them in the older group. I think she's meant to be older too as she's the one who co-signs on Vanessa's apartment and acts as her second mother as her mother is a drunk rather than the same age right?.

Oh Victoria was without a doubt the best thing about an already incredible show in my opinion when I saw it both at Southwark and King's Cross (Southwark especially). I also once saw her on the tube and she is possibly one of the nicest people I've ever met.
I'm sad you never get to see her danieljohnson14, I just know you would've loved her!!
Finally saw this at the KC theatre after originally watching at the Southwark Playhouse. Loved it - fantastic performances. Only exception was Lily Frazer as Nina. Thought she was awful - couldn't hold a tune. Is she recovering from laryngitis or something? If so I could be more sympathetic. I know I sound really mean and I don't say this lightly but honestly I found her quite painful to listen to. It really stood out as well because everyone else was so good.

I really feel like something must be wrong with her voice lately. When i saw the show last November i thought her voice was outstanding and i heard many other people comment on her voice. However it does seem over the last couple of months negative comments about her voice have been becoming a bit common and i can honestly only assume that something is going on there as there was certainly no issue when i saw her. I thought she was the best thing in the show.
I just found out that Josie Benson (Camila) ran the London Marathon last week and still went on for that evening's show!! I'm sure some fitness types won't be that impressed but for us mere mortals that is utterly amazing. That woman is unstoppable!!
It's been a terrific year for the trans-seasonal trouser!
Ryan Reid for Benny Sarah Naudi for Daniella Jacosta Almgill for Camila Vas Constanti for Kevin Spin for Piragua
Also, Lily Frazer seems to have lost her middle range, don't know whether she's unwell at the minute? I remember being blown away by her in October but it was a bit of an uncomfortable listen last night. She could still hit all of the belts but they seemed clipped and the word 'horizon' noticeably became 1 syllable during Breathe. Maybe the run is taking it's toll? I hope she's okay! I think she's a fantastic MT actress.
I was amazed by Lily in Cats as Demeter, she was a brilliant dancer! Her voice was good... I can understand the idea of a run taking its toll but it is not one of the difficult roles in musical theatre really is it? Compared to some of the roles out there at least. She doesn't dance really, all of her songs, based on what I saw this week anyway, she doesn't really go very big on the vocal front either.

Monday's cast board according to twitter, I think that leaves 4 roles (Usnavi, Vanessa, Abuela, Graffiti Pete) played by their principle actors! Is there some sort of plague going round the cast?
Teenage daughter and I went to see this this evening (6pm show). Just to say that on a very hot day the venue was very hot indeed (I saw earlier posts where people were bemoaning how cold the venue is on a cold day). Very appropriate given the subject matter but definitely a good idea to take a cold drink with you. Given some reports I was worried about low audience numbers but it was pretty busy.
Daughter would now like to see it again - immediately - but I did point out that if we saw everything she wanted to see on multiple occasions we really would need a lottery win!
Thought it would make a great school trip show for kids in Yr 10 and above - particularly if, like my kids' schools, the pupils are of different ethnicities and facing issues around how to be in the world - leaving behind their neighbourhood for university, for example.
Finally got to see this on Saturday evening and I loved it! I think it really suits the space and as discussed at length here the cast are all incredible. I'm already plotting to see if I can manage a return visit.
Actually David is still not back from his 2 weeks holiday. He was due back Weds 4th May but Vas has still been playing Kevin. Possibly for the rest of the week.
When I return to the show, if David is not on, I may go insane. He is the only Olivier nominee I haven't seen this year and it is really bugging me that both times I have seen the show he has been off, even though it is not even Tha much of a role.
