"Shakespeare400 is a consortium of leading cultural, creative and educational organisations, coordinated by King’s College London."
What is the point of this? It comprises only a select few of the Shakespeare events in London. There's so much else also going on, both in London and in the rest of the world.

I know. Here's one not mentioned. www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/events/pages/event-detail.aspx?eventid=2416Some of the ones of more interest to posters here could be the rehearsed readings of plays at the Globe (Read not Dead season), The Coxcomb (Beaumont and Fletchcer), The White Devil (Webster), The Devil is an Ass (Jonson) - you'll probably never see full productions of two of those.

Why would we not use this thread for any Shakey 400 event, seems sensible to put them all in one place.

Speaking of which - am I right in thinking that a few of us are planning on mildly sexually harrassing SRB on Sunday night at his talk? If so, it would be nice to be able to identify each other (before the police arrive) - any ideas on a sign?

I have a rehearsal Sunday so instead will share the story of the time SRB said "Faaaaaabulous darling!" to me (I complimented him while he was having a fag outside Costa - not on the fag, obv).

I am planning on wearing a bright red dress but I imagine SRB attracts a lot of flamboyant women in bright red dresses.

You think this milestone would be marked by all the cultural institutions getting together and doing all his plays in London in the same year.

Oooh, maybe I'll wear a dress as well, though I haven't got a strumpet red one sadly. Will look out for you!

I'm missing something obviously. What's the SRB red dress thing?

SRB in conversation on Valentine's Night for free. Apparently allocating more tickets than seats so do get there early!

Could never find this when it first got mentioned so thanks for link, how early do we think to get in, any idea how big this thing is and if we're all turning up early we need some sort of sign (sadly don't own a little red dress)

The fact there are still tickets available suggests it isn't necessary a sell out but if you aren't familiar with KCL I would recommend 6:30-6:45 but hopefully it will be signposted!
They sometimes have wine at these things too (I used to work at KCL...)

I am utterly unfamiliar with King's College London ("KCL").
It really pisses me off that they thought it was a clever move to muscle in on the Shakespeare anniversary, which will be observed globally, by appropriating the name "Shakespeare400" (maybe they've copyrighted it?) for their own little part of this year's Shakespeare activities.

OK matey, you've trolled the thread once, you don't have to keep banging away at it.

Commenting in a non-celebratory way on the subject of a thread is not trolling.

King's College London run a Shakespeare Studies course so it would have been odd for them not to "muscle in" as their students alone would have expected events from their academics.
I am not really sure who you think should and shouldn't be celebrating/commiserating this anniversary, HG.

They sometimes have wine at these things too (I used to work at KCL...) Thank you, I think I know where the building is but having gone to a similarly ticketed radio recording last month and spent a long time in a very cold queue I was eager to avoid a repeat, though of course that is preferably to traveling in and then not getting in!
Wine? Oh dear, is this likely to be a smart event rather than I have worn everything I own in layers in case of cold?
