"Les Mis to Matilda"? So, what, is it just "musicals that came from the RSC from 1985 to the present day"? Ha I thought that...or just 'musicals we know that begin with M'

Popped along here today, not expecting much and I was right... Not that much to see really. A pity. These theatre exhibitions at the V&A are always a bit of a wasted opportunity- no real theme, not particularly well displayed, oddly placed and misleading captions, and some barely audible audios to go with some dodgy footage of yesteryear productions. Yes, there were some gems (the gold top hats worn in the original production of A Chorus Line, Hal Prince's letter to ALW and TR etc) but I found myself wondering what the point of it all was...

I liked the stage models and the costumes but there isn't really any 'there' there.
I miss the Theatre Museum.

Se now I went this morning and loved it! Okay, some of the stuff I've seen before and it's just been rearranged but thought the costumes and stuff on the Phantom of the Opera was excellent, the designs for the barricade and the ariel view of the stage for Les Miserables, the top hats from A Chorus Line with the projection at the back, all of the posters from past productions and stage and lighting designs. the showed the stage, lighting and costume designs for Sunday in the Park with George, including clips from the recent Menier revival and when the sung Sunday, I had (literally) put my hand on my heart and it was all I could do to stop myself crying!
It's quite recent, including Matilda, The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night Time and a costume from the recent Broadway show The Visit.

Popped in to see this earlier today as had a few hours to kill before seeing Sunset Boulevard. It's an ok way to spend half am hour. The costumes were quite interesting as was Warhorse Joey and the set designs. I particularly enjoyed the letter from Hal Prince to Rice and Webber with his first thoughts after listening to Evita. And as everyone else seems to have stated I too got lost and couldn't find the loos!

I dropped in there last week too. Had real difficulty finding it, despite knowing the V and A layout quite well (or so I thought). Left a feedback comment about the signage.
Quite enjoyed the exhibition and costumes. Some interesting stage sets too.
Also put on the headphones and spent a happy few minutes listening to Sunday in the Park with George.

Oh i had trouble finding it too. But only because i'm pretty sure some signs pointed the wrong way. At one point I followed a sign and then saw a sign for it pointing back the way I just came from!

I'm planning to visit here. Is it worth a look? Could you spend a whole day there?

Not at the exhibition itself but you could easily spend an entire day at the V&A.

Popped in this morning, and thought it was fascinating. Between this exhibition and the wider Theatre & Performande section it was a great way to kill an hour or so before I could check in to my hotel.
Would definitely like to go back and spend a day exploring the rest of the V&A though - it's absolutely vast!

Popped to this yesterday morning. Never been to the V&A before. What a maze! Not a lot to "Curtain Up" though. There were a lot of little labels saying items removed.

I was really disappointed by the exhibition, you can just about call it that. Yes it was tricky to find and it appeared to be next to a more permanent installation about entertainment, which I'd not seen before but spent a little time looking round. Bits of 'Curtain Up' were well put together and interesting, but there wasn't a huge amount to it. If you're passing then grab a look but not something for a day trip. It's transferring to New York later in the year and I wonder how much content they will add!
