Generally it was good. I really liked LB and I really loved the new ending but something was not right. The NT production just seemed so much more nuanced. I sound negative but I did really enjoy it plus I loved the Theatre

I keep envisioning Follies on the Beaumont stage.

I keep envisioning Follies on the Beaumont stage. I doubt if will happen anytime soon as Bernadette's Folly was not that long along ago ... I also think Follies needs an old style theatre for it to ideally work

Oh I know it is just wishful thinking on my part. But the National is not much of an old style theatre, so I think it would work fine in the Beaumont.

Hurrah. Danny Burnstein looked liked a bored 16year old on work experience in B&Q when I saw him in the role. Broadway royalty? Pah (moan over)

Well, Alexander Gemignani is only 12 days older then Laura. It's going to be interesting what type of age makeup they put him in.

Currently at the interval of tonight’s show. Second time seeing it after seeing it in previews last year. Is it bad that I am not really rating Laura Benanti? I much preferred Lauren Ambrose’s Eliza.

No, I think I posted in a different thread but I didn't rate Benanti much at all - fabulous singer of course, but her accent was dreadful and I never believed she was a poor Cockney girl, the character progression just wasn't there for me.

So, a rumor is going around that Lincoln Center has pushed the planned July closing date to October with a different Eliza and Henry. Another rumor is LC is looking at Dominic West to become the next Henry. No word on who the new Eliza is, but Laura Benanti has been offered another contract extension.

Dominic West has played Higgins before so he would be good casting. An October closing would mean it have 19 months on Broadway which is pretty good for a Lincoln Center musical.

Well, the rumors I told a few post above weren't true, closing date set for July 7th. A West End production is in the works.

Everyone gave Lauren a hard time even though she sings wonderfully. Sound of Music for VBT?

Well, Alexander Gemignani is only 12 days older then Laura. It's going to be interesting what type of age makeup they put him in. Alexander does look a fair bit older than Laura and they can dress him up to look older. Eliza is also supposed to be a youngish woman - late teens to early 20's I'd guess as I cannot find exactly how old the character is supposed to be. So it is probably more Laura playing younger than Alexander playing older. Like in The Graduate where Anne Bancroft was less than 6 years older than Dustin Hoffman but was supposed to be about double his age.
