I would love to see it. I've only seen clips of the Cameron Mackintosh revival, and the staging looked fabulous.
Everyone is rooting for Laura Benanti in the lead. I think she'd be good. I don't really have any thoughts on a cast for this show. Well except a few years ago someone said Ann Hathaway. Could be good with her.

La McCutcheon must be fed up of 'Loose Women' nowadays. She could probably commit to 2 days per week. Month.
Laura Benanti could be her understudy. She might get the odd chance to go on every now and again.

I'm excited to see it in June (pending if I get a ticket on the 29th!), and trust the director, but I'm having none of this cast, except Lady Olenna as Mrs. Higgins and Norber Leo Butz as Alfred Dolittle.
I have no thoughts on Higgins, and I'm so underwhelmed by Lauren as Eliza.

I can't wait to hear who is playing Freddy Eynsford-Hill to be honest. 'On The Street Where You Live' is one of the most gorgeous songs in musical theatre ever. Yes, I said it. Ever.
Didn't Dame Diana play the same role in 'Pygmalion' in London's glitzy West End a few years back? The one with Rupert Everett?

Estelle Getty was younger than Bea Arthur in 'The Golden Girls' and Angela Lansbury was only 3 years older than Laurence Harvey in 'The Manchurian Candidate'.
To be fair to Lauren Ambrose, she does look younger than 40.

It's a terrific show they say - we may live to see it close, someday... or as originally written. Our future babies we'll take to Abie's Irish Rose -- I hope they'll live to see it close. |

Never heard of Lauren Ambrose. She does look a little old to play this role. I love this show and was fortunate to see Martine! She was amazing. Also Carly Bawden was sensational in the Sheffield production a few years back.

bed..bed..i couldn't go to.. No really, I stayed a little up to buy my ticket. It's 11.15 on a work day.
Anyway, got my ticket for June. I'm seeing it smack three days before the Tony Awards. I really don't want anyone to take off just to rest their voices.

Just realised that Lauren Ambrose was Jilly Kitzinger in Torchwood: Miracle Day. She played that character amazingly!

Will Cam Mac allow it? As far as I know he owns the UK rights and has his own production that he'd probably want to remount one day.
