I have enjoyed The Halcyon for a fix of mildy entertaining period drama. Yes! The Halcyon is great! The best of its type that I've seen. Pure entertainment, through and through, in every aspect, but without seeming tacky or embarrassing. There are loads of different story strands and the tone seems to be just right for all of them. Unlike Downton Abbey, which seemed far more tosh than it thought it was.

^ I shall be seeing Edward Bluemel, who played Toby in The Halcyon, at the Choco Factory next month. Rattigan's Love in Idleness. Looking forward to it.

Call the Midwife is my guilty pleasure, and occasionally a bit of Who Do You Think You Are? I gave up on Grey's Anatomy after about season 4, got back into it a few years later and gave up again last year. The only American show I watch religiously at the minute is The Big Bang Theory, but I've got a long list of shows I need to watch!
Another panel show watcher as well - predominantly Mock the Week and HIGNFY. Also usually watch A Question of Sport because I can generally get a lot more questions right than on Uni Challenge/Only Connect. And occasionally Pointless, generally makes my day if I chance upon an episode with a musical theatre question...

Yes! The Halcyon is great! It was, wasn't it and I LOVED the ending, one of my all-time favourite songs, sung with such beauty and stunning visuals. How they slowly revealed she was dead, as was he, and turned an old and tacky cliché into something that had me screaming "NO!!!!!" at the telly. {Spoiler - click to view} I too was screaming 'NO!' at the telly. Maybe they could find a way to bring them back? Or, better still, a spin-off: the Sonny and Betsy show. They were the best things in it for me.

I binged the whole second season of Fortitude over a couple of evenings last week. Very good, just as scary-bonkers as the first season and some draw dropping OMG did that just happen? bits.

I've been a Grey's Anatomy addict since day 1 and Shonda Rhimes will have to pry that show from my cold dead hands to stop me loving it. Evn without McDreamy. American Tv-wise my I get the rest of my shows from Netflix, and when I say 'rest' I mean alternating The Good Wife and Gilmore Girls. McDreamy McShreemy.......I am STILL mourning George Have you discovered Chicago Fire Emi? It's got that nice Aussie doctor from House pretending to be American and Lord Gaga, amongst others HOW COULD YOU BRING UP GEORGE!! (nope still not over it) Ooh I've never watched Chicago Fire but I might have to...

It has both interesting stories/characters, good actors and some easy-on-the-eye people, all round winner!

Anyone going to be watching the new series of Broadchurch? I thought the first series was excellent but the second not so good - one of those times where I thought it should have been left as a standalone series. Will be interesting to see how this series goes.
I've just finished watching Gilmore Girls all the way through on Netflix and am really gutted I've finished it all as I really loved it. It's taken me ages. Don't actually know what to do with myself know (except get a life ha ha). Guilty of liking a Netflix binge now and again!

I will be watching Broadchurch. Not a massive fan of David Tennant but the first two series kept me interested.

I binged the whole second season of Fortitude over a couple of evenings last week. Very good, just as scary-bonkers as the first season and some draw dropping OMG did that just happen? bits. In truth it's way too gory for little me, but put Richard Dormer in a POLITI jacket and I'm totally there... I ended up getting very hooked on Taboo - which is odd because I don't get the Tom Hardy fever sweeping womankind, and I nearly gave up on it after two or three episodes. I think I really took to it after 1) Tom Hollander turned up and 2) I just accepted that (much like Fortitude) I was never going to make any sense of it.

Anyone watch The Replacement last night? I wasn't a fan of Vicky McClure in Line of Duty but she is absolutely scareily, psychopathically brilliant in this. What a performance. I wanted to slap her so hard......I hope someone does soon! And Richard Rankin. Nuff said. Thank you d'James for alerting me to it it up-thread.

The Replacement was excellent last night. Because, I think, we all know someone a little bit like Paula... And did we see that coming???
