I watch television like most of us, love a good football match or may dip into the one show or the panorama, also do love Question Time and University Challenge, but absolutely adore Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week, I am seriously howling with laughter.
But what I absolutely hate and detest are the people who go to see a show for the person in it and not the production, then at the end they show a kind of entitlement by giving a standing ovation, as it gives them delusions of grandeur. But then again I am a theatre snob.
Oh I also like Masterchef when it's on.

Another UC watcher here, I like trying to answer the questions, same with Only Connect.
I first knew of Sheridan from TV, and that got me intrigued to see her on stage, which in turn got me into some works I haven't seen. Sometimes it's the other way round, I go to a show because I want to see the show and end up being impressed by one of the performers. I like a balance of both!

Ditto University Challenge and Only Connect. We should put a Theatreboard team together for the latter.

Rampant snobbery, looking down at those who dare to watch TV. Its an attitude several people on here seem to have. I suspect it might not have been levelled at the London audience too. Of course we're all a bit rough and thick up here in Manc. I'm definitely rough and thick, I've never watched Benidorm though Ouch, someone seems offended. The only differents between a London and a Manchester audience, the London audience go home to watch The Only Way Is Essex. My barb wasn't aimed at anyone on here, as I know you all go for the show and my comment can be equally aimed at a London audience and most definitely a New York crowd. Stopped watching only connect, as it left me feeling seriously inadequate, might get one or two correct on University Challenge, also like Mastermind, but generally fast forward it to the general knowledge part.

So what do you watch or actually find time to watch?
This is a continuation of the Funny Girl thread where Theatremonkey came out.
He actually likes University Challenge, but so do I, I sometimes get a couple correct - even when PNT Paxman pompously says when a team gets aquestion right 'obviously'.
I also love a Football match, think both Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You are hilarious.
Also like Mastermind and Masterchef and if I got time Pointless and the Chase. Daytime telly can be better with stuff like Bargain Hunt or Escape to the Country, also they have good quizzes, such as Pressure Pad or the The Edge.
Also have been known to watch a good test match, Wimbledon prone of the majors in golf.
Also like to catch the BBC news at 6 or 10.
Stopped watching Only Connect as it leaves me feeling inadequate.
Never watched Benidorm, Only Way Is Essex or any soaps.

I like a lot of TV quizzes (I've been on two), but not the ones that involve chance like Tipping Point. Love Only Connect and catch University Challenge when I can. I do love it when I get ones right.
I also like a good TV drama. We've had a lot already this year. Looking forward to The Replacement (I think that's what it's called) starting on Tuesday.
I also like some comedies.

I've changed my TV habits over the last couple of years. I've given up on soaps, they are as far fetched as sh*t from China. They lost me when "Eldarado" was cancelled!!! I'll watch HIGNFY 'till the cows come home and travel shows such as Great Railway Journeys or Italy's hidden cities or that nice Joanna Lumley schleping through Greece or Russia without (much) make up! Oh and Come dine with me, you can't beat a good episode with a battle hardened woman, a 50 year old bloke who thinks he's Adonis, a shrinking violet who has never been further than the end of her street and a queen who outs himself after the third night (like nobody guessed!)Yes, give me back to back CDWM anytime!

University Challenge fan here too- I always set myself a target score each week... and fall far short of it every single time!
Corrie- I can't miss it, but have to admit that I am not impresed with some of the ridiculous storylines of late (Mary's son we'd only just been told about turning up on Christmas Day... Leanne giving birth to a six month old baby in a lift the size of most people's lounge etc etc)
Also rely on Gogglebox for a round-up of all the telly I've missed in the week so I know what to catch up on. (Starts again tonight.)
I do love a good documentary- this week's compulsive view was The Drugs Trial; Emergency at the Hospital on BBC2.

I also love Only Connect - there's a website where you can do the walls which is quite addictive, though you have to do them AND say what the connections are within the 2 minutes which is a bit steep! I'm pretty good at the final round too, though if I can get any in the first 2 rounds I feel pretty smug! Talking of smug - don't you just hate the team names? I fast forward that bit as it's just too much smuggery for me! Guilty pleasure/car crash TV *whispers* Dinner Date! ETA. Who is Mary?

What about the Rugby?
I'd bet MORE than half the members of this board love a sweaty man with big thighs?
Fill your boots this weekend.

Agree that Mary is far too good for rubbish like the son storyline. A pity as I thought we were going in the right direction... the scenes between Mary and Norris leading up to it were incredibly touching at times. The scene between Leanne and Michelle this week was beautiful and powerful: "Do you want to hold him?" But you couldn't get the silliness of his birth out of your head, with the ambulance men standing there doing sod all while the medical centre nurse took control! And Toyah... she is one crap actress, right? How convinced are we by her relationship with Peter? Award for Up And Coming Corrie Actor must go to Little Liam.
Agnetha Faltskog, by the way. Amazing or what?!

might get one or two correct on University Challenge, also like Mastermind, but generally fast forward it to the general knowledge part. Main reason I watch UC is because I only get between a third and half the questions right. Some weeks are easier than others, and some are more science or arts biased, I find. Stopped watching Mastermind years ago as it was too easy. Recently, though, I caught the edition with someone who had "Andrew Lloyd Webber" as her subject. I got more right than she did - the only one I didn't know was the original Mary in Superstar, totally forgot her name. Stopped watching again after that. A third to half correct!!! Ooh look at how clever I am??!!!?
I get a question right on University Challenge I am dancing around the room. I only need to understand a question on Only Connect with having an answer and I am celebrating like I have scored the winning goal in the cup final.

I work on getting a third to a half of an answer correct, when Jeremy says we must have all three/two parts! My target score is much, much more modest...

Soaps wise- I was raised on Emmerdale, and I hold my hand up and say I still love it. I don't watch it much but I do enjoy a romp in the dales (oo er etc)
Another one for a TV quiz- I tend to go to the gym post-work and so watch a bit of Pointless or The Chase there (ok with a bit of Come Dine with Me mixed in!)
And I love the panel shows, 8 out of 10 never fails to make me howl, as does Mock the week, sadly for my HIGNFY and QI have lost a bit of their spark but I do dip in.
I've been a Grey's Anatomy addict since day 1 and Shonda Rhimes will have to pry that show from my cold dead hands to stop me loving it. Evn without McDreamy. American Tv-wise my I get the rest of my shows from Netflix, and when I say 'rest' I mean alternating The Good Wife and Gilmore Girls.
I have enjoyed The Halcyon for a fix of mildy entertaining period drama.
Ok one more...I've loved America's Next Top Model for years, but I can't deal with it now Miss Tyra has gone...anyone with me there? I need to share my pain.
