Best of luck to Karen tonight! This is the first performance she is doing that is covering Amber outside of her usual alternate days. Any illness or holiday dates before this have been performed by Marisha if I am not mistaken, so nice to see they have scheduled in a date for Karen to perform before Marisha does both shows tomorrow!

I saw the show and Karen was on. I was expecting her to be not so good after reading comments on here - I thought she was great! Her And I Am Telling You wasn't smash hit standing ovation sensational but all the other songs including I Am Changing, One Night Only and Listen she smashed it. She also brought a bounce and cheeky smirk to the role, acted the journey well, owned the role and I thought she did a super job. I wasn't disappointed and glad I saw her. Well done Karen! Standing ovation at the end 9/10

Yay a positive review for Karen!! Really pleased to hear that she's seemingly improved since her early performances.

Just confirming what we already know, Ruth has responded to a tweet (rather passive aggressively!) that says she won't ever make it on as Effie on her twitter here, which seems to me to be the first time she's publically tweeted about it

I mean, I can't blame her if it isn't her fault, but if it is her being unprofessional or anything, she has no one but herself to blame.

You know what I am curious about, the circumstances of her leaving. Because her attitude in those responses comes across in one of two ways. Either she is upset she was fired or she is pissed off that she was fired (assuming she didn't walk).

That's not a call her agent would have relished making to her when the decision was made...

*Ring Ring* "Hello, Ruth Brown speaking, Alternative Effie in the glittering West End production of Dreamgirls? How can I help you?" "Ruth, it's your agent. You haven't got this...." *CLICK*

She's stuck to the facts at least, "Are you playing Effie?" "No." "Why?" "Life."
I must admit it's strange that her twitter bio still has it, if he didn't want to be asked the question.

I mean she got given the job as alternate lead in a brand new West End show which would probably have opened so many doors for her and then it got taken away from her without her even able to showcase her take on the role! It's not her fault for the other alternates but it seems to have been handled strangely? Of course don't know full details so can't really comment

If she had a crappy or diva attitude or just simply could not learn the role in time, or grasp the acting, then what other option do they have but to fire her. And that is her fault, not the producers. As you say too, I don't have the facts either, but we can't just assume it is the Producers fault, they wouldn't of hired then fired her without reason.

Agree... surely Ruth wasn't ready which is why they brought Marisha over?! Why she wasn't ready could be hers or the Producers fault?!

Yes that it true, I didn't think that they would've hired her then fired her for no reason. It's very strange because we don't know what's gone on behind closed doors. Maybe Marisha was only supposed to be temporarily but proved very popular? Who knows

I've taken a punt on seeing this later next month - on a Monday in the vain hope that I get Marisha... fortune favours the bold.

I believe Listen is released tonight at midnight. I'm gonna stay up like a crazy person (until 2am because of the time difference) packing and wait until it's out.
