I'll tell you something else too. Ruth's tweets seem more focussed on her becoming a star and "making it" than being thrilled about appearing in a high profile west end show. That might just be my interpretation of it and I could be 100% wrong but she certainly doesn't appear humble or grateful for the opportunity.

Burly and Daniel - you both are hilarious. Not sure how it takes 3 months to learn a show. If this is her job and she's getting paid, than she could potentially learn it during the day and watch at night to get the blocking down. She could have put in a few days and then be ready. That's how it usually works?

Why should be expressing gratitude?! And maybe it's been out of her control and they haven't been able to rehearse her till now, what with the 43 other alternates to look after?

They had to bring over Marisha so clearly something is going on. And they don't seem happy with Karen. Has she even been in since Marisha arrived?

She has done one show since Marisha came into the show. But whilst Amber was ill, Marisha did every performance. Karen then did one show, Marisha did this week... next week, no one knows. if they are going with the initial plan, Karen, Ruth (haha) and Marisha will alternate on a weekly basis. But I imagine (and hope) Marisha is the main anternate, given the amazing reviews for her, and that she really owned the role whilst she performed over Amber's absence.

It seems hugely expensive to bring over Marisha just to do (possibly) one show a week?

It seems hugely expensive to bring over Marisha just to do (possibly) one show a week? I'm telling ya, they are slowly gonna edge one or both of the alternates out to keep Marisha as the main one. And that is no shade to either girl, but that's just what I can see happening. And why not? Marisha is incredible in the role, may as well use her to the best advantage. Ruth hasn't done any shows and Karen didn't get the incredible reviews Marisha did by any stretch.

Apologies if this has been asked before but is Marisha the 1st alternate Effie now? She's back on tonight according to her instagram and I'm keen to return to the show, seeing someone else's take on the role. Its meant ot be Karen today so I assume Karen is ill. But Marisha and Karen alternate and when Ruth decides to learn the role she will alternate with them too. But all jokes aside, the three of them alternate one performance a week. There hasn't yet been a time where an emergency meant one had to go on in 2017, but I would imagine Marisha wouls be the first to get the call, mainly because of the incrddible word of mouth and the fact she moved continents to play the role, so they really should give her more than one show every three weeks. When there is an alternate performance, the first alternate would go on. Marisha has only got 1 more show left which is next week and then the new schedule comes back when Ruth & Karen will alternate. Marsisha was called because Ruth hadn't learnt it. There will only be 2 alternates at a time.

Really lifewithjoe? So Marisha won't be part of the show after next week at all? I was quite interested to see her, don't think i will get the chance now.

Can I just say with some of these ridiculous comments- everyone is entitled to opinions however, Marisha was ALWAYS a temp Effie. She has 1 left which is Wednesday.
And with all these comments about Ruth, has anyone considered that there might be a real serious reason she hasn't been on and that they have flown a Broadway star to help alternate?
No one knows the real reason she hasn't been on, she could be ill mentally or physically, a family bereavement? No one knows so cut her slack. I'm sure if she 'couldn't be bothered' to do the job then they would of got rid of her by now... the producers know what they are doing.
And all these people making negative comments, would you have the capability?!

I've booked for Wednesday cause she is on- she replied to a tweet. She was always a temp Effie. Ruth wants to be ready by Feb (new schedule) so it all makes sense.

Their loss then, Marisha is amazing, they are making a real mistake if this turns out to be true.

There will only be 2 alternates at a time. Hadn't learned it? Or hadn't been required to learn it because they didn't think she would be needed yet? As for your other comments, we speculate about this stuf in the absence of any information being given out. Same old story with SF, keep everything in the dark so people start making up their own versions of what might be going on. You just said she hadn't been on because she hadn't learned it, and then started talking about other possible reasons as to why she hasn't been on such as health/mental health issues. And then said no-one knows. So which is it? And do you think she would appreciate you throwing wild speculation like that into the mix with absolutely nothing to support it?

That's common knowledge. What I'm saying is the reasons that she hasn't learnt it could be because of bereavement or anything like that. People have said 'she can't be bothered'... Do I think she'd appreciate it? Yes. I do actually because it wasn't personal to her, it's valid reasons for not learning a part. Unlike comments that have said 'she can't be bothered'. It's not difficult. Please get your facts right. Speculate is actually what you and others have been doing. All I have said is that she may be having personal issues of her own. I think the question is, do you think she'd appreciate it that someone says 'she can't be bothered to learn a part' when that's her career?

Caught Marisha on Wednesday. Astounding. You wouldn't have known her to be an understudy and I can't imagine Amber being significantly better.
It's probably the slickest new musical we've had in the West End for a long time and clearly money has been spent on sets and costume. Rest of the cast were fine, I gather one of the other dreams was an understudy too. I didn't catch the cast board, so have no idea. Packed house, an enthusiastic, but not hysterical audience, which I was grateful for after reports of mid-show standing ovations and the like...save it for the end.

I just think if she was having personal problems, she would be as active on twitter as she is, constant saying that she will be a star and throwing all kinds of shade...just saying...
Burly and Daniel are only speculating and it's true that without any info from her or the producers, what so they expect us to do?

I do agree with the others about Ruth's tweets though. She doesn't seem interested in Dreamgirls, she seems interested in fame.
