Perhaps Karen's tweet is based on Marisha going on instead of her tonight? Surely she knew that when they signed up Marisha then she'd be going on as Effie too?

So all three dreams off tonight which meant understudies / alternates were on, four if you don't the fact that Lily Frazer performing as Deena meant that her cover needed to be Michelle. Another great response to Marisha, standing ovation for I am telling you, nearly another one for I am Changing. She is phenomenal. Superb cast overall.
Biggest gripe? The theatre was so cold. Unbelievably so.. I know it's freezing outside but it's a full house. Surely they could afford a few coins in the meter.

Currently, all casting is as originally announced in the programme, with Marisha getting an A5 slip in the programme for her performances. It doesn't credit her as anything other than "at this performance, the role of Effie White will be played by...". I didn't have a slip in my programme when I saw Karen on Monday. Also, there was no announcement so I didn't know whom I'd see until she went on (I've only found the cast list in the interval). Also the Savoy does not have a sign saying who is in the cast, when I pointed this out to an usher I was told to buy a programme....

Thats strange, when I went they had signs everywhere including on the box office saying Marisha was playing Effie. They had the same when Natasha initally covered Sheridan. And on the Dress Circle bar (first bar you come to when you enter) the screen displayed who was on and off.

I'd have been tempted to offer him/her some advice in return.

That's what's momentarily shown on the TVs in the foyer - when they're not showing ads for other ATG shows:. It takes a while for the information to be displayed... But as I've said above: I only happened to accidentally see this while standing in the foyer in the interval, and my programme didn't have an understudy slip either.

Here is Marisha singing AIATY at the production of Dreamgirls she did last year.
What are people's opinions? She can certainly hold a note!

I prefer Karen Mav's performance. Marisha just shouts everything. You can tell because of all the clipping in the microphone that it can't handle the amount of volume she is producing.

I'm interested to hear what Karen sounds like now I've heard both Amber and Marisha perform. Marisha sounded much better than I originally thought, much better. Is Karen good at the acting too?

I hope her acting is better at the Savoy... haha I was thinking the same, and the answer is yes, its not as manic as it is here as its directed in a different way, and I'm also guessing because its not in the round she doesn't need to run around as much!

Its 100% the staging of this version that is the problem, the in the round aspect makes her have to act to ll three sides and move around like a crazy. At the Savoy, she actually follows alot of the original staging in this number, she stands in the same spot for most of it behind the table, only interacting with Curtis when nessicary. It is an amazing performance truly, both in the axting and the singing.

That performance of I Am Changing is a bit of a mess actually. Too much concentration on... what's it called "riffing"? (Help me out here Wicked fans ). Sing the song dear, that's THE most important thing.

As we have all learnt, audio is never the best way of experiencing a performer. It is clear from the responses from those who have seen her on here that she was incredible, so clearly there is something not coming across in thr audio that was there in the theatre.

No announcement on any twitter accounts to do with the show. So at the minute the assumption is Amber is on? Or do we assume Marisha?

I wouldn't of thought Amber is on? Is she? The West End Understudies twitter account has said that Lily is on as Deena but no sign as to whether Amber or Ibinabo are on??

Unless Marisha or Karen are announced somewhere, even if it is just in the theatre, then it can be assumed that it is Amber on today, the same as any other show.

I think Jocasta tweeted she was on until Wednesday to cover Ibinabo. Obviously nothing is certain yet with Amber, but an hour before the show, nothing has been announced yet.
