I love Amber's performance! It is the first time in my life I ever felt emotional during that song. Yes it is clearer, cleaner, maybe less screamy and whale-ish. But because of these reasons it feels very intimate and close to herself. This song should always be this pure. It's about feelings, not about screaming and vocal gymnastics. For the first time, i saw a real Effie, who lived the lyrics from within instead of from the outside. Very emotional.
I love the way she is more polished and is one of the first Effies who also sings the soft notes beautifully, which is quite important as that is more than half of the time. She can even go even smaller at times in my opinion. Use the whole palette instead of just being loud and noisy. It also makes it more believable as a whole that she could actually be part of a girlgroup as a real person with nuances.
It makes the story more interesting and believable.
Painting with a small brush creates magic to me, but for others it might just be constantly shooting a paintball with a cannon (Jhud).

Fantastic! Loved that they brought the orchestra in too. Really looking forward to seeing this in Noveember.
I wonder if this new production will copy the way that Effie finishes the song but then doesnt get the chance for applause. I do hope they keep the iconic look of her reaching out in front of the mirror.

I think they will certainly end it with "Love Love Me Baby" as it cuts into her song. It's done on purpose so that Effie has hit so rock bottom that she's denied applause even from the audience.

I doubt actually anyone truly gets it. We only get it because we've read Michael Bennett's notes and interpretation of the book. There are ever so many little decisions and motifs that are either placed in the book, in the score, in the dialogue that are always unnoticed, but it does affect us on a subconscious level and makes the work more cohesive and whole.

My November-December theatre binge is actually unbelievable and has been a year in the making. I'm basically cramming twenty-something shows in three continents, in four cities, between late November to Christmas time. Know how you feel. Oct & Nov for me is about 25 shows in 7 countries & 11 cities (so far!)

Just watched the Graham Norton Show - what a fabulous performance from Amber. I wasn't going to rush to see this until the New Year, but have just booked one of the £30 tickets for previews after hearing that!

So happy I don't have to see Sheridan's face or the big Unfunny Girl sign on the Strand, at least for a long while. Anyway, the Funny Girl set is also stripped off and ready for the new set.
Savoy's account could have been cheekier and just "I am changing..." for the changed sign. Their hashtag usage for this could be a bit more inspired.

Have just watched Amber's performance - how fabulous to have that song rescued from its current status as a Saturday night talent show favourite where the only objective appears to be to yell as loudly as possible whilst hitting every note in the world on every syllable! She sounds incredible - can't wait to see this in December.

There are £30 seats in the Grand Circle (i.e. Upper Circle) - I managed to get central row C for a weekday night when I booked yesterday. There are a few if you're looking for a single seat and don't mind being high up - never sat that high up in the Savoy but from photos and Theatremonkey the middle of the first few rows seems ok.

The problem in the savoy isn't height in the front upper circle, just legroom. In the back section, it's rails in view as well as legroom. If you are shorter, it's a very good buy, though. Good thing I'm only 5ft 3 then!

Dec. 03 - Stalls: S7 and S23 for £50 Dec. 05 - Stalls: J23, L23 and N10 and N23 for £80 Dec. 06 - Stalls: J3 for £60, L8 for £80 and three seats at rows U/V/W that are behind pillars Dec. 06 - Dress Circle: C24 for £60 Dec. 07 - Stalls: L23 for £80, F22, H9, J3, 023, Q5 & 6, R7 & 8 for £60 and S18 and S19 for £50 Dec. 07 - Dress Circle: A22, B22 and C9/10 for £80, A28, C27/28/29/30 and E9 for £60
Are those the prices to pay for these kind of seats? Out of these, which one is the best option? Is there any other site I can find tickets? And I was thinking in trying to see the Harry Potter play in Dec. 07, I didn't want to miss the play, so If I can see Dreamgirls in other date it would be better.
Sorry to bother about seats, btw, but I'm really in doubt.

Generally speaking, using the official Box Office of the venue will give you the best price & selection, though it is worth noting that it has been known, especially on popular shows, for the main Box Office to be busy/sold out, and an agency to have tickets available, so always worth shopping round to an extent. As to your selection of tickets, to me the C24 for £60 sounds like the best deal for balancing view & cost, but I'm sure somebody more knowledgable than me (*cough* @theatremonkey *cough*) will be happy to contribute also.

Wouldnt surprise me if they do it as a duet, to bring more attention to the star name, though it should be a solo as Effie gets enough chances to shine in the show.
