I doubt she is after a west end leading role to be honest. Love Island isn't the reality show for progressing a music career, I suspect she is more interested in celebrity lifestyle, endorsements, public appearances etc. People mock the show, and with good reason in many cases but the people who go on it are not necessarily dumb. It's shocking how much money they can make out of it, not just public appearances but also they will have increased their social media followers so will become influencers. also helps if they can create stories for themselves on the show. which many have done. Many of them will be millionaires within a year if they play their cards right
Also I don't know how much box office she would attract in reality. Just being a name on TV doesn't automatically translate into box office. Would people fork out £60 a ticket when they can just go to their local club and see her then. The Love Island style shows tend to create social media stars where people can just follow their lifestyles, she hasn't really made her name on the show as a singer

kulen If you think she is a household name you don't know the meaning of the word. She's a 3rd tier reality show contestant. Graham Norton is a household name. Samira isn't.

Considering that love island daily gets about 20% of national share of television it is fair to say that she is a household name stop being so patronising.

it's not patronising it's a fact, it's still only 3 to 4 million viewers which really isn't that many. She is a name for a certain demographic but that type of fame is fleeting and there is little evidence to show that that audience crosses over to buy expensive theatre tickets. even xfactor people aren't a massive draw. it's not just about being on TV it's about crossover appeal and how audiences want to engage with you
I admit I watch it most nights and I know a few who do, but none of us could name everyone in there, it's just a bit of summer escapism.

Considering she causing so much controversy because the producers didn’t give her enough air time people will deffo remember her. I can’t stop laughing at your logic, she’s gonna earn a good amount of cash and fame for this show 😂😂

Why will people remember her if she hadn't had enough air time for people to remember her from? Sure she'll get a few mag deals, a few interviews here and there. This time next year the general public won't remember who she is though. Maybe she could do Big Brother or something when she's hard up for cash?

I agree she isn’t a household name at all. She’s made a name for herself sure but only for people who watch that show, which is a certain demographic. She wouldn’t appeal to the older generation say. A household name is someone basically everyone knows. She can sell tickets probably if she was put in a show relatively soon but not a household name.

I suppose they do not hold them prisoner on/in Love Island but there must be a contract of sorts. I understand there is only 2 weeks left of this 8 week show and to quit before she is voted off (or whatever) with only 2 weeks to go means she has quit 2 contracts within 2 months. Not the best reference for a future employer?

All of this Sonia situation is a RUMOUR it hasn’t been confirmed by her personally and perhaps mabye she’s in good terms with her so who cares? A future employer doesn’t care if she didn’t stay in the villa, it’s still good telly from her part and she left there to pursue Frankie and prioritise her mental health in that villa. Yeah she left, that doesn’t make a difference? Don’t act like you have never quit doing nothing.

Way to ruin your musical theatre career, hun. Well done.
Wondering if she'll do CBB or Ex on the Beach next.

People and there contracts. People and THEIR contracts. All of this Sonia situation is a RUMOUR She left Dreamgirls at short notice to appear on Love Island - FACT. Don’t act like you have never quit doing nothing. If I knew what this meant - I might respond, but as I don't I wont.

The idea that Samira from Love Island is a household name is laughable. She's not even anywhere near one of the most popular or notable contestants from this series. Love Island's status as a 'phenomenon' has always been overexagerrated, it gets 3-4m viewers which is good for what it is and the channel it's on but isn't incredible in the grand scheme of things - it just happenes to attract the demographic that makes the biggest noise and therefore the impression that everyone is watching it is given.
Even if she was a 'household name' I don't think that would mean her casting would sell tickets. She's known as a personality on LI, not as a singer or dancer - why would people who don't know anything about her as a singer or actor pay money to see her on stage when they can engage with her through social media or PR appearances? There's no transferable audience there, I sincerely doubt she is on the radar of any Producers/Directors/Casting Directors.

I didn’t see any of you bashing Amber when she refused to do shows either? Double standards. Where do you get this idea of Amber refusing to do shows from? From what I understand she struggled with the aftermath of her pneumonia, the death of a close friend and numerous other issues throughout her run and if she didn't feel mentally or physically strong enough to go on and give a good performance then I personally respect that. Also Amber never actually backed out of the show and completed her contract even if it was on a 5-show-week schedule despite the issues she faced

I didn’t see any of you bashing Amber when she refused to do shows either? Double standards. You clearly weren't on this forum when Amber was in Dreamgirls, and as has already been pointed out to you, the circumstances were completely different. People are entitled to have a different opinion to you, that's the whole point of a forum. Sniping in response is not going to advance your argument any further. And for the record, no, I've never quit a job without seeing out my notice period, let alone quit two in as many months.

As far as Samira goes, I don't think it shows her as unreliable and flakey backing out of Love Island because the producers probably like that she left as it created an extra storyline of a contestant throwing away the chance of winning the $$$ to follow her heart, after all the show is all abt "luuurve" and it's something to put on the Sunday aftershow. On the other hand I think quitting Dreamgirls mid-contract was irresponsible and could show her as unreliable. She could be used in a Kenwright tour as an extra draw like having Lucy O'Byrne off The Voice in Evita but I don't see her headlining a big show Sheridan Smith style with her name above the title which is what is seeming to be implied by a certain poster!
Going back on thread topic, I'm back at the show for a second viewing a week Tuesday using the Under-25-£25 tickets deal, really hope both Marisha and Asmeret are on.

This thread is slowly turning into the “my Elphaba is better than your Elphaba” debate with a single voice trying to shut down anyone else’s opinion! Mabye stop indirecting and say it with abit of chest that your alluding to me. Last time I critiqued Amber’s attendance I was told that I was “distateful”. But then everybody is bashing Samira because she doenst fit your idealism, ridicolous. Everybody here has a rather large ego thinking they are above samira because she went to a “cheap” show and that nobody literally gives her credit. Double standards. And I wouldn’t be the only person who would stop posting in here because of drama queens.
