I saw her a week ago. I can confirm that she is incredible. Also supported by the fact that she got a standing ovation after AAITY, huge applause after IAC and Listen, and more standing at the end.
Sometimes YouTube recordings sound nothing like being in the actual theate with the performer.

Sometimes YouTube recordings sound nothing like being in the actual theate with the performer. Also, people have their own opinions. I have seen her in the theatre and “I can confirm” she is just ok. Her voice is not for me and I think she plays up to the audience too much. Opinions are opinions. Nobody is right or wrong. She sounded exactly like the YouTube videos in person to me.

Fair enough, and yes exactly, each to their own. I was just responding to the suggestion that Marisha was struggling to sustain her performances and that she seemed to be getting a bad reaction lately, and from where I was sitting, I saw none of that. But indeed, she won't be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine.

Different opinions are all good however some opinions come across as personal vendetta's. Wanting a performer to fail and making unfounded statements that that is happening is just sketchy. It was good that robertb213 told us what he saw last week at the show, nothing wrong with that. Then tom you yourself have called Marisha "excellent" in the past so you can understand people enjoying her performance. 😊

She’s not bad at all but much preferred Amber’s vocal. Nice that you’re so on the ball/stalking posts though Elle

I saw the show last night for the first time since Amber left. Not sure if the ladies have gone on a team holiday but all female parts were understudied except Effie which is shared anyway! You really wouldn't have known though as they were all great! Nicole Deon was on for Deena, Jayde Nelson for Lorrell & Emma Louise Jones for Michelle. They worked really well together and didn't seem to miss a beat - Does anyone know if they are all the first covers? The men were all on, I wasn't so sure about Joe Aaron Reid as Curtis but he grew on me a a bit, his last line didn't have much impact though. I think the number of females off gave a slightly cut show, unless the party scene normally has 2 men dancing together! Yes they were first covers. Surprised how all 3 were off, the female ensemble must’ve been small! it surprises me they don’t send out the first covers when they have press events like the Magic today to let the main cast still perform I think if one more lady had been off they would have been in trouble. I think there were 5 ensemble ladies plus the 4 Dreams.

I've booked to see this on our annual trip to London in April. I actually know nothing about Dreamgirls. Is it best to know what to expect, or just wait to be amazed?

Wow, looks like this show could well outlive the 18 months-2 year prediction many thought!
This means we could well see a third Dreamgirls cast, based off of the fact cast changes have been November thus far, though we will have to see if the show extends past the December date to know this for certain I guess!

New ‘meet the Effie’s’ video up on the Facebook page, with pro shot clips of Moya’s AIATY, Marisha’s One Night Only and Karen’s I Am Changing - hopefully they will release the full pro shots on YouTube but somehow I doubt it!

I went on Monday night and it was very busy. Granted it was half term so this no doubt helped but didn’t see that many children. Lots of couples so maybe some early valentine nights. On arrival saw that Karen Mav - this is not one of her scheduled nights. Was a bit anxious as have not been bowled over by the clips I have seen and have not seen the show since Amber left, have also seen it with Marisha so was also quite intrigued to see a new take on the role. I thought she did a sterling job and the audience agreed, I liked her portrayal of the character and she certainly can handle the score. Some have said her acting isn’t quite up there but from Row B I had no issues - would be more than happy to see her again. Really liked Brennyn and Asmeret continues to be fantastic in her role - really feels as fresh as the first time I saw her. First saw Tosh when he was understudying the role, wasn’t convinced the first time but was really impressed on Monday. Understudy for Curtis was on - gave a decent performance but was just a little of at times. I didn’t dislike him as much as I think I should - as a character that is. Overall though think it remains in great shape and the audience lapped it up. I do find however it takes me a good 30mins to get into the show though, it just doesn’t hook me from the start but once it’s gets going mainly from ‘Family’ onwards I am invested and loving it. A mere observation of which I’m sure many will disagree with! On a side note regarding tickets managed to grab Row B of stalls on TodayTix for £23 booked a couple of weeks ago. This is the second time have managed to get front stalls for this price so worth keeping an eye out.

Does anybody have the new programme? If so, could somebody please upload a photo or write out the understudy list please? I know the first covers but not the second and thirds. Thank you, I’d be so grateful

I've been listening to the London Cast Recording today, really paying attention to the vocals etc (listened to it before while doing other stuff, like cleaning or whatever so I wasn't fully concentrated) and I must say I feel a little disappointed. I've heard these people sing way better. What a weak Deena.
I guess that's the risk you take when you record it live.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I had to say it.

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered but I've not been keeping up with the show or this thread recently. Is there anyway of telling who will be doing the Wednesday matinee and who's doing the evening show (out of Marisha and Moya) prior to the show starting? I've already seen Marisha and Karen and would like to see Moya's take on Effie, but Friday's aren't a good day for me to go to London.

The only way you can really know in advance if if you tweet Moya or Marisha. They are both super responsive. I would assume they'd know a few days in advance?

I didn't know that feature existed. I still don't know why Moya only gets two shows/week - she is amazing! LOL
