Won the lottery on todaytix for the show on Tuesday night and thought it was electric.
Marisha is phenomenal as Effie. Her voice is stunning and I couldn't take my eyes off her as she sang "what about what I need?" in Family. Nicole Deon was on for Deena and though I enjoyed her, I left feeling quite surprised the role wasn't a bit more. It wasn't until the last few minutes of the show I actually felt invested in the character. The highlight for me, however - Asmaret! Holy moly, what a talent.
So happy I got to see the show and hopefully Ill get the chance to see it again!

Saw the show the other day. Had Karen as Effie. She was very good, her voice is amazing! Beautiful singing voice. Her acting wasn’t as good as the other 2 Effies, she didn’t have the comical effect like Marisha but her acting was still good considering the other 2 are native Americans whereas she isn’t. That’s being very nit picking tho. At first I was a bit wary but her AIATY and One Night Only and IAC were all beautifully sung. I she has settled into the role well now. Brenynn was a very good Effie. Her listen was soooooooo good! Just as good as Liisi and she is gorgeous too! Asmeret was brilliant as per usual. Soooo funny! Great as Lorell, fits role so good! Joe brill as her usual and Tosh was excellent. I saw him in the role when he last understudied, he is amazing and I’m so glad he plays it full time now. Durrone also good as CC and Delroy was a good Marty. Kimmy is a great Michelle. She is better than Lily. I could actually understand what Michelle was saying now and she seemed to fit the role better. The ensemble here are the best in the West End. They work sooooo hard. The dances are brilliant and must be so tiring. The female ensemble really stand out. Whatever Effie you have she will be amazing. 5 stars

Full Video for people without having to leave TB. Interesting that they've gone for such a comprehensive cast and crew credit list...

That's the first time i've heard Marisha sing AIATY because i've avoided it due to possibly seeing her in the role in the future, and i have to say, it doesn't sound my cup of tea. I prefer the smoother vocals of Amber and what i've heard of the other two.

That’s exactly how she sounded when I saw her in the theatre too. Don’t get the hype. She puts me off going back - would have to be sure of seeing one of the others, although I’ve seen Karen very early on and wasn’t bowled over.

I have never gotten the hype surrounding Marisha- I agree with what you said about Karen. at the start of her run in 2016 it was so messy however now she has really gotten in the role and she is so good. I have seen Moya and I think she’s the best out of the 3, possibly due to her experience. I just don’t get why Marisha is hyped so much 🤨

As unimpressed as I was with (the first act of) the show there was no denying how fantastic Amber was, and Asmeret too.

I prefer the tune, the one that someone went to the bother of writing, as opposed to that bizzare interpretation. Have you by chance heard Henry Krieger’s original demo of this song? Taking the part of AIATY that Marisha songs in the trailer, the tune is indeed extremely varied I agree. However it’s also extremely different in Jennifer Holliday’s version, which we all presume to be the ‘true tune’ - it’s different again in Jennifer Hudson’s version and once again in Amber Riley’s. What I’m trying to say is that I think it’s the intent of the composer on this occasion to allow the melodic line to be up for interpretation with some freedom for ‘riffing’ for want of a better word. Otherwise, they’d all sing it like him! Just something that’s worth listening to and taking note of - this isn’t something that’s specIfic to Marisha and I personally like what she’s done with it, but each to their own!

I saw the show last night for the first time since Amber left. Not sure if the ladies have gone on a team holiday but all female parts were understudied except Effie which is shared anyway! You really wouldn't have known though as they were all great! Nicole Deon was on for Deena, Jayde Nelson for Lorrell & Emma Louise Jones for Michelle. They worked really well together and didn't seem to miss a beat - Does anyone know if they are all the first covers? The men were all on, I wasn't so sure about Joe Aaron Reid as Curtis but he grew on me a a bit, his last line didn't have much impact though. I think the number of females off gave a slightly cut show, unless the party scene normally has 2 men dancing together!

So the dreamgirls cast are in the London palladium for a magic event! However, why is Jocasta Almgill performing with the cast even though she left?

Surprised how all 3 were off, the female ensemble must’ve been small! it surprises me they don’t send out the first covers when they have press events like the Magic today to let the main cast still perform

Marisha sounds a lot better in person that that trailer reflects. I saw Amber last year and then Marisha last week and found both of their performances incredible 😁

From what I have heard of Marisha, her phrasing sometimes sound quite strange which results in her making some unpleasant nasally sounds.

IMO, simply put, Amber was the better singer and Marisha the better actress. Marisha's performance was more raw emotionally and that affected the vocal. I enjoyed both performances.

It’s too she sounds nasally and usually screams instead of singing 😐 and tbh she can’t sustain being full time Effie as I predicted , she seems to be getting a bad reception lately.

What indications have their been that she can't sustain her scheduled performances? And a bad reception from...who? The standing ovations? There's always going to be people who prefer different performances, but just because you didn't enjoy her performance, it doesn't mean she's no good!

Check out her recent and I am telling you on YouTube. It’s extremely bad let’s be honest.
