I knew Tyrone Huntley would get CeCe he is perfect for the role. Ryan Reid I bet is an understudy for that role too, he just has a look of the guy from the movie

Liisi is interesting. I can't find much about her, unless I'm missing things? She has got quite a few videos up on YouTube of her covering songs though if you search her name. She seems to have a good voice but not Beyonce like vocals, which is the only reference I have of the character so is all I can compare it too. As unfair as that is. I'm sure she'll be great though and certainly looks the part.

Great to see unknown actors get their breaks and no doubt they will deliver. The producer, Sonia Friedman, after the debacle of producing the star vehicle of Sheridan Smith in Funny Girl must have thought I'm not going through that again! Funny Girl is advertised on one Star (Sheridan). Dreamgirls is the same with Amber. Arguably a little different but Amber will be a massive draw for people.

I dont know why I think this but I can't see the sign outside the Savoy saying "Amber Riley in Dreamgirls" & it could be a little more low key? Not sure why. I think Sheridan Smith is more well known in the UK than Amber and is probably a bigger draw but Amber is a great choice for Dreamgirls! Can't wait to see her!

I agree that Sheridan definitely has much greater name recognition over here. I mean, I barely know who Amber Riley is and I'm normally pretty good at knowing actors' names compared to the average Joanne.

Sheridan Smith is a much bigger name in the UK due to a huge range of TV and stage work. Amber Riley is only known for Glee isn't she so unless you saw that one (admitedly huge) series you would not know her at all here.

Yup, it'll be a bit of a mini In the Heights "reunion". So far I've hearf of only one who is leaving In the Heights early though (as in before October 29th).

There's a video going around social media of a waitress from Ellen's Stardust Diner - Smashing "And I am Telling You" - her name is Tiffany Mann, and she was born to play Effie. Why can't we have her?? She gave an outstanding performance. Check it out if you can.

Quick question for anyone who has booked for this. Have your tickets arrived yet? I booked quite a while ago and I know the websites always say your tickets could arrive few days prior to the event and with concerts I know that is the case, but I've never waited for theatre tickets like this!

Not yet. I was told they wouldn't be issued unil 2 weeks before but I don't remember if he said the run, or my dates. My booking was with Groupline though, rather than the usual ATG team, no idea if that makes a difference.

An interview with Amber on playing Effie White...
Interesting she says she always dreamed of living in London for a year and now it is happening, so the assumption is she will be having a 9-12 month contract, depending on if the year includes rehearsals?

If she was playing Effie in Paris, she'd have said the same about Paris - or any other city.

To be honest, I'm fairly surprised that booking hasn't been extended for this, seems to be selling well. I think it's bound to extend when it opens, won't be open for only a couple of months

It'll be the Savoy's first open-ended show in the last year and a bit

Also their first "New Musical" in a year and a bit too... according to the ridiculous Olivier rules.

I suspect it'll be an 18 months to 2 years rather than 5-10 years plus.
