I've scanned the 204 pages of comments and somewhere along the way I saw Amber Riley's performance schedule but cant find it now, nor is the show's website helpful in the least. Is she still in the show? Is she just doing 5 perfs a week? Hopefully one of you DG people here can help me. Thanks.

In reality she’s pretty much rolling up when she hasn’t got anything better on. Good luck!

No in fairness, since she has changed to the 5 show schecule, she has been on at every performance bar holiday I believe. Its not really fair to say she just shows up when she wants when she does show up to all her scheduled performances now.

Ok, I was exaggerating. But many people have been when she was supposed to be on, and she hasn’t been. Including me.

Thanks all! Well it certainly adds an air of suspense to whom my friend from the states will see later this week...

How would you compare Karen’s and I am telling you in her performance today to the video of her singing it on YouTube? Her 'and i am telling you' is so much more smoother and clear however theres bits of growling in some parts, not as many as in the video (at least its not straining). Her voice is much clearer and stronger now. I feel she has now really gotten into the role and has found her inner Effie you can say. Producers now seem to be giving her a lot more shows. She did about 3 shows this week. So she's going through the right direction. The new CC as you said was absolutely dreadful. However, one problem with Karen is her rendition of 'one night only', vocally its not there and its clear she struggles with it unfortunately.

New cast must be announced in the next few weeks. They must be starting rehearsals soon if not already doing it

New cast must be announced in the next few weeks. They must be starting rehearsals soon if not already doing it I was about to ask whether there had been any cast announcements. I've heard the rumour that Marisha is taking over as main Effie but other than that nothing. Has anyone heard (had confirmed) any other rumours over who's leaving/joining the cast?

The paying customer will be the very last to know anything if Sonia Friedman has anything to do with it.

Finally got to see this production and I have to say, also enjoyed Karen Mav's performance a lot. Nevertheless it was Jocasta Almgill who stole the show in my oppinion. Didn't have a problem with CC, but was Joe Aaron Reid just having a bad day or does his voice always sound that strained and flat?

I was also at the matinee yesterday and have some thoughts.
Karen was OUTSTANDING. The improvement she has made throughout her run is incredible, I can't even compare her from when I first saw her as it feels like two different performers. Especially her AIATY which was so much more controlled and clear. All of her big numbers were fantastic, and she was well received. I really hope she stays for another year! Jocasta, who I hated as Deena when I first saw her back in April, was also terrific! There is so much thought put in her performance, and she doesn't try and imitate Liisi. She definitely deserves to be first cover. Nicholas Bailey once again slayed the house down as Marty, but what's new.
The show was really good as a whole, and was interesting to see only 3 stepsisters instead of 4 in the opening number.

How awesome is it to see 3 good reviews for Karen in a row! I loving seeing her progression through reviews! And to Kulen, I actually like her one night only, the simplicity of it is what I like - in the OLC I don’t like how amber sings it at all, she rushes her verses and goes to all over the place with it. But I can definitely see where your coming from with Karen.
May I ask how Karen’s I Am Changing was guys? That for me is her highlight - it’s like it was made for her

I was thinking of going on Ambers last night but i'm a bit fearful of the audience. It's always a great atmosphere to go to a case change but i also like to actually be able to hear the singing and dialogue so....

I've joined the tribe and booked to see Amber on the 18th - paid a lot more on tickets than I usually would, but for me Amber was totally worth it. When you visit the theatre so often it does become less of an event, but when I saw her last time it was truly... an. Event.

I saw the first preview and things were pretty damn wild, but exciting. I tend to sit on an isle seat. This way there's one less annoying person I'm sitting next to.

There seems to be a large number of us going to Amber's last show! Who's up for a game of "who can scream the loudest at the most inappropriate moment in the middle of a song"?

I might go the week before, so i spare myself the crazy.
I've only ever been to one cast change, and that was by accident as i didn't realise until everyone was crying at the end and people made speeches lol. And it was only for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so there wasn't the crazy atmosphere that one might get at other shows.

Amber is undeniably incredible but I'm not sure I could stand all the audience hysteria of her final show. Like others have said, I'd like to still be able to hear her! Great show and great performance though, she deserves the praise. Tempted to go back and see Marisha in the role after being wowed by her at West End Live, if the bank balance will stretch to it

I mean, every performance I have seen of Dreamgirls, both with Amber and Marisha, has had mental audiences, so I don't know how much more crazy it can get!
