I hear Broadway may not happen now until 2019 if at all because of amber's absences. I think a year into the show, they may need to get someone known to play Effie...Marisha would be great though...

It is remarkably easy to 'randomly bump' into someone if you have placed a tracking device in the hood of their duffel coat. Did you check the apps on his phone? ๐๐ You mean my sh*tty Nokia which only has Snake II because I got hit by a car and my phone broke? ๐๐ Oooh Retro cool...I like it. Do you have the polyphonic version of 'Freestyler' by Bomfunk MC as your ringpiece?

Booking extended to November 2018. But it is weird as tix go from February 2018 and skip to September. No tix available yet from March-August2018

Just booked for ambers last performance finally, snagged the last 2 ยฃ20 tickets in the gods - row F. Not the best seats but I suspect just being there will be amazing, cannot wait.

It's my fault I suspect. I should have seen this a lot earlier, but what I experienced this afternoon was a pale reflection of what I imagine this should be at its best. I got the alternative Effie (Karen?) who, to be kind, sang with brave gusto. I have, however, only seen worse actresses in the very weakest am dram. I'm being diplomatic. The lady playing Deena was present on stage in body alone and the third of the dreamettes was from the school of 'carry on up the dreamgirls' acting school. I suspect the director is long gone and the resident director is not much cop. Otherwise, what I saw this afternoon would never have been allowed to happen on a west end stage. The male dancers were......possibly nice people. Male leads faired slightly better without blowing me away. Was I unlucky? Should I return to be converted? I can't remember the last time I've left a theatre feeling so disappointed, and I tend to always try to see the positive, I actually considered going to the box office in the interval and asking if I could come back another day when there was another Effie on, to see if it made much difference. So very disappointed.

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't we only know for sure of one pwrson who is leaving, that being Amber? So theres no point being sad if the others may be staying! And even then, knowing what is gonna happen afterward, I'm half and half happy and sad Amber will leave. ๐๐ Amber, Liisi and Adam are the confirmed to be leaving cast members. Thank god. I could play Deena better than Liisi. Dreadful performer.

I saw the show early in previews and loved it but you really need a strong Effie, Deena and Lorell or the show will fall flat. You need an Effie and Jimmy with star quality at least. I was blown away but I only saw the original cast. Sorry the experience today wasn't the best. I was blown away when I saw it.
Who is gonna be the new Effie? I need to know...
Maybe Ruth? She's got this...

Surely it's Marisha.. why would they bother giving her a media night with the z list celebs unless they were trying to raise her profile in the show?

I agree, I'll be shocked if it's not Marisha. I'm hoping it is as I still haven't had the chance to catch her as Effie yet

Sorry kelly52 you had a bad experience with this show. I do know what you mean when seeing a long running musical when the original creatives have left, the buzz has died down, people are off, alternates are on and the piece does not jell, and its just "another" performance for the cast - show 238 or whatever.
However, I think you were unlucky in that I have been completely blown away by the show on the three times I have seen it - twice with Amber and once with Marisha. My only slight complaint was that the new CC is not a patch on Tyrone Huntley who I missed. This does worry me when it comes to cast change where perhaps the quality dips a little. This show is all about the performances after all.

So very disappointed. Welcome to the forum, Ruth ๐ I don't know who Ruth is, but I can promise you I am not she. Anatomically awkward for a start (last time I looked) ๐ I go to the theatre regularly but would only post something here if I felt strongly (good or bad). Think I've posted all of about half a dozen times over the years. I love theatre with a passion, have been around it all my life and think I'm pretty discerning. I also can't bear whinging lurkers on this Board....and am conscious I am possibly coming across as one..lol Having slept on it I can confidently confirm that what I saw yesterday was a mess and I hope the production team are aware of this and on top of it. Let me be clear, this is obviously a fine production at its core but what I saw yesterday was, quite simply, not good enough. I have never seen a stage production of the legendary Dreamgirls, have always wanted to, and I am sad this was what I experienced. Onwards and upwards!! Ruthxxx.....er...........๐

Welcome to the forum, Ruth ๐ I don't know who Ruth is, but I can promise you I am not she. Just my little joke. Ruth Brown, alternate Effie who never made it as far as the stage and understandably miffed about it.

Ok, so picture the scene. It's 20th November and Friedman still hasn't announced it. The curtain goes up and out walks..... Ruth Brown. She slays it. Audience are in actual tears. Ruth is catapulted to stardom and goes on to get the Broadway gig. It took a year to be ready but finally, she's got this.

What do we think of Lily Frazer as Deena and Karen as Effie??

What do we think of Lily Frazer as Deena and Karen as Effie?? I love Karen as Effie, although I do think she tries to imitate Amber too much - her voice is not for growling - and if she were to find her own way of singing the songs it would be much easier for her to sing without straining. As for lily Frazer as Deena... awful she had the weakest voice I've ever heard as well as sounding like she can hardly breathe whilst dancing (don't understand how she got raving reviews for her in the heights performance because it doesn't translate into DG). Let's just say there are better choices for Deena.

Lily was originally first cover and Jocasta was 3rd but now it goes Jocasta, Lily, Kimmy. Jocasta is now 3rd Lorell not 1st. It's all been a bit of a saga! Jocasta seems like the better Deena. Lily seems like a lovely lady but I can never warm to her as Michelle let alone Deena - can hardly hear her when she plays Michelle. Doubt she'll stay post November.

Lily has had a couple of days on as Deena in the last few weeks. Even when Jocasta has been on in the ensemble, so whilst there is an understudy "order", they don't seem to pay a great amount of attention to it!

There must be a play in this saga of who is "on" for The Dreams at the Savoy! Perhaps we are over analysing it and they just play spin the bottle backstage for the roles or its just the first girl to get to the costume rack!

I didnt really have a problem with her as Michelle, I thought she was okay. I also thought that she seemed fine in that WEL video too.
