My father passed away at 7.30 this morning. Very peaceful in the end with my sister singing Do You Hear the People Sing for him. So sorry to hear that. Am glad it was peaceful in the end.Take care of yourself and best wishes to you and your family at this difficult time. |

A genuine question and I Know it's in the wrong section,but....
When people go to a stadium concert and queue for hours to get in so that they can stand right by the stage, what happens when you need the loo?
Do people let you back to the front after you have been? As I was thinking that anyone could say that just to get to the front. I've never been to a stadium concert so quite curious how this works.

It’s Friday, the sun is out, work emails / group chats muted. I’m on leave now for the week and looking forward to lots of theatre stuff in Manchester / London / Chichester over the next week. Happy days!

A genuine question and I Know it's in the wrong section,but.... When people go to a stadium concert and queue for hours to get in so that they can stand right by the stage, what happens when you need the loo? Do people let you back to the front after you have been? As I was thinking that anyone could say that just to get to the front. I've never been to a stadium concert so quite curious how this works. Based on my own experience of when I actually did this sort of thing (late 80s, early 90s), it wasn't too bad. You would get the first 2 or 3 rows of "real fans" who basically parked themselves there and didn't move. One assumes they managed their liquid intake and/or bladders to make that feasible, but basically those folks found their spot and didn't move at all. A few rows behind (where I usually ended up) it was a bit more reasonable. You could come to and fro for drinks, toilet visits etc. and other people just seemed to think "whatever", I can't remember there ever being a situation where someone got on their high horse about someone pushing in to get to the front. People were relatively relaxed about it all. These days, being an old bloke, I rarely get a pitch ticket for a stadium concert, usually I get a seat in the stands. My most recent experience of being "down the front" was Rammstein in 2022, but in that case I had paid a bit extra to get a "Fire Zone" ticket in a section at the front so that was all fine, you could pretty much come and go as you pleased. Basically people with tickets there were guaranteed a spot at the front, if they wanted it. Not sure if that practice has become a normal thing for concerts or not. |

Having the weekend with my sister and niece. My sister has bought some water pistols and I have learned that my niece was not afraid to use them on me!

Reminded me of when I was young - the policeman who lived next door & I used to have water fights over the fence with washing up liquid bottles of water. - Loved it. |

I think it’s much more ‘managed’ these days. People who are near the stage at a stadium gig have got there because they paid for it rather than by virtue of queuing. Everyone is assigned a section whether it’s standing or seating and the sections are manned by security who check tickets of people coming back with drinks. Sometimes the ticket is exchanged for a wristband to make it easier. |

I keep getting TikTok videos talking about Chislehurst and now this, I feel like someone is giving me a sign to go there! With this bear statue however I’m sold! I’m trying to find some theatre friends so I have others to see shows with and enjoy them. Just building up the confidence to find/interact with others and that’s what pushed me to join this forum as I’ve lurked for a while, so been a reflective but inspirational day. I remember seeing the recent meet-up from the end of May so hoping if there’s another one day I can buck-up the courage to go. |

We had a nice day out to the zoo today.
It was the last time we could go before our passes expired.
And now I've got the week off!
(Well, I've been off since Thursday as I only work 3 days a week)
Plans are lots of baking and cooking and chilling!

With money in the bank for 5 minutes (well until all the DD’s come out on Tuesday), the trains running and a nice bank holiday weekend, it is a few days in London for a few shows and a tour of the disused parts of Holborn station for me. Hopefully there will be some decent weather in the city.

I follow a local guy on Strava (an exercise app) who has been doing an Ironman event in Canada overnight.
Swim was good, bike was really good, run only said 'gastric chaos'. It a full marathon ..
Hoping to have a better Bank Holiday morning. Hope you do too.

He completed the Ironman event, including the marathon - he calls it the Gastric Death March, which could almost be by Wagner.

I had an NHS appointment this morning to check it wasn't skin cancer - just to exclude it really: anyway, all clear.
Realised I'd become nervous about what to expect from hospital NHS (GP NHS has been fine). Wow, it was great: on time, friendly, specialist Doc, Consultant popped in just because .. About 25-mins from locking to unlocking my bike.
I know it's been ground down and undermined by ideological fuc$wits for 15 years, but that was so nice. A relief. Given how things are I was probably lucky but i do think the patient is recovering (A&E: yikes!). It'll be quite a period of conversance but the will is strong and I believe.
