If my laptop pings once more to say I've received another e mail from my colleague who is in the office today and I'm working from home I will throw it out of the window.
6 came through whilst typing this and they are all pointless.....

Since the covid sh!t storm happened I've rebooked for Akram Khan at Sadlers Wells. This morning I've just booked some stuff at Opera North including Carmen for 2021. Feels good to be back in the habit of booking and having stuff to look forward to.

Had a lovely walk around Windsor great park and up to the castle yesterday, it's about 4 miles from where we live so mum dropped us off and then picked us up around 2 hours and 7 miles later! Going to do the same again on Thurs or Friday and stop back via the Windsor farm shop to get some nice steaks!
This weekend another repatriation trip for me - Ahmedabad. We fly out empty and (hopefully) sleep, before heading back about 3 hours later. Good thing there's still lots of movies on the IFE I want to watch!

Hand on heart I can say for the first time in decades - perhaps camping as a scout - I was woken up by birdsong this morning. Literally woke me up. I'm going to try again tomorrow  Later, I cycled and walked around the South Bank, Lambeth Bridge to London Bridge. If you took the joggers, cyclists and NHS lanyard-wearers out of that, it's very still. Christmas Day remains my only reference point for this level of public activity in London though the great incongruity is public transport; buses aplenty (almost empty), tube network operational and, at London Bridge, approaching what we used to call 'rush hour' a full service on the departure boards and about 7 passengers on the entire ground-level concourse. Literally more gate line staff than punters. North of the river tomorrow. Wish me luck .. |

My bugbear is WhatsApp. I never had to have it before but with so many people working remotely it’s become a necessity. But it never ever seems to stop! |

My choir Whatsapp group messages drive me nuts: ping after ping of members posting links to songs, live performances or photos of their leisure activities or exhorting me to join a rehearsal via Zoom or Youtube, etc. Firstly I haven't time and secondly, if it's not real, ie in person, I'm not interested.

I turn all notifications off. Nothing is so important that it can't wait a few minutes for me to check it, and when everything thinks it deserves to stand out then nothing does so what's the point?

Yes London has a sleepy summer feel to it, perpetual lazy Mediterranean afternoons. I do enjoy it to a certain extent but I think London is better when it pulses with life. |

The sky over us is usually criss crossed with planes at all heights. Now, maybe one a day.. and where is that going to, I wonder.

Ordnance Survey has G-TASK and G-NOSE while the Environment Agency has G-MIND and G-LEAF. |

Well I knew that it would probably happen but had an e mail from BA cancelling my flight in June. It was from London City Airport which is currently closed. Clicked on the link and it off offered full refund or rebook. So at least it will be easy choice and I'll go for refund. I presume as they have cancelled the flight rather than me that's why no offer of credit note which I didn't want.
Not sure what happens now with the hotel as I booked via Lastminute.com and they are only allowing cancelling upon government advice. So although that applies now I dont know if it will apply in 8 weeks time so will just have to hold fire there.

When I go shopping first thing on a Saturday morning there's a queue that forms round the car park. I felt more satisfaction than I probably should have that today I was early enough to be in the first leg of the queue before it turned the corner.
The people in front of me were talking about Donald Trump. No matter how bad it gets here, at least we don't have a leader so stupid he thinks:
a) mainlining disinfectant will cure disease, and
b) anyone is going to believe "I was joking but it went over your heads because you're not as smart as me".

One of those days where legs, lungs and the elements were in perfect harmony.
A breath of fresh air became one of those rides that rekindles the feeling that made you fall in love with cycling in the first place, the bluebell laced lanes whizz by in haze of green and blue, the lungs and cadence in perfect concord and the whirring of the gears providing a moving soundtrack.
40Km later can settle down to a guilt free evening of maybe one too many creme eggs as the endorphins provide the feeling satisfaction and smugness that only a good exercise session can provide.

No. When I clicked on the link it came up with credit note but had a number to call if you wanted to speak to someone. Was on hold for about 20 mins but when I got through the person was very helpful and sorted out a refund with no questions asked. He did say that it could take up to 22 working days. |
