Amazing scenes, quiet until 5:15 then the crowds arrived.
It could be a long evening, atmosphere is electric and all in good will.

I’m afraid that the government is only doing what the rules of Parliament allow it to do. If MPs don’t like that then they should move for a GE which requires a No Confidence vote and ask the electorate to vote them in or out accordingly. The fact that they haven’t done this so far speaks volumes about the quality of our MPs who have happily accepted being Representatives without representing. A new or rather reconvened Parliament is customary and preferable to prolonging this one which has brought democracy into disrepute with contradiction and side changing and general lack of intelligence. A Queen’s Speech won’t prevent debate of whatever ‘deal’ they come up with or of attempting to stop No Deal. It will be up to the MPs to use parliamentary procedure to get the debate time they need. They were all happy with their long school holidays weren’t they? Ps we should transfer further chit chat to the Brexit thread.

TM,some of my friends and I are muttering the same, not doing working women any favours, there, Ruth. I’m sure she doesn’t care that she is letting you down, maybe she just wants to chill with the fam? She doesn’t owe any of qus anything HOWEVER I believe all of that is c**p. She has been touted as a Tory leader and has seen her chance. Bet u a cheap seat in the Cotesloe she will be leader come the end of the year

I'm not a Tory, never have been, never will be but she was the only one I would have any faith in.

Best thing I've seen today! The video is 10 years old (so Theo is now almost a teenager) but I've never seen it before

That's brilliant! I'm feeling less impressed with myself for learning that speech now that I've seen it done much better by a small child though.

I've spent yesterday and today Heritage Open Daying, so this morning, and half the afternoon, I've been on a very comprehensive behind the scenes tour of an anonymous building in a top secret location. All I can reveal is there is more than one use for a ping pong table! 🏓
This message will self destruct in five seconds. 🧨

Twice now...
A while ago I booked tickets for Tim Minchin in Liverpool for the Family, everyone wanted to go. Now a family member is in another country indefinitely and still not told me they're not coming next month, despite having acquired Visa's there etc. And now someone else has just booked a stag do for the weekend I got front row Phantom tickets in MCR.
This is why I go to the theatre alone. People. As an aside if anyone wants front row seats at Phantom's stop in Manchester, check the noticeboard.

I've been driving around Exmoor today, crawling along the roads behind pedestrian pheasants that seem to have forgotten that they are capable of flight.
What's surprising is that when it comes to roadkill there seem to be more squished birds of prey than flat pheasants. Perhaps it's because drivers expect pheasants to do something idiotic and are ready to hit the brakes. It's an interesting survival strategy — be so notoriously stupid that everyone works around you — but it seems to be working for the pheasants.

So... oven turned out to be a loose wire - £50 call-out from our reliable local repair guy. Computer turned out to be two anti-virus programs taking a monkey / bear approach to life. Deleting one restored order. Life goes on, but if anyone wants me I shall be asleep for a good while... Fully sympathise about the computer - I had the same problem for quite a while and only got sorted when my son in law figured this out about the two anti-virus programs 😏

Bad news from work today: I’m at risk of redundancy.
They’re going to be making 8 out of 28 of us redundant in my department.
57 redundancies across the company.

Bad news from work today: I’m at risk of redundancy. OH NO! Awful, kathryn. Fingers crossed for you... and remember, if you see anyone walking around with a clipboard - head for the loos until they have passed... they can't fire what they can't see (worked for the journalists when the Times got bought). Thanks Monkey I’ll remember that tip! At least we get notice and a consultancy period - the 3 people going in our US department office just got made redundant today.

Glad you got all that sorted Theatremonkey and best of luck Kathryn, hope everything works out.
I have just ended two gruelling days of interviews and have just earned my first headteacher post. Hence now being utterly exhausted and totally unable to sleep!!

Bloody day orf. Good so far, no queue at the Donmar, and booked that sky garden experience (feee!) for an important day next month Now onwards to see William Blake at the Tate, de Vinci at Buckingham Palace and, for a cheeky matinee, Juliet Stephenson at the Almeida (got very lucky last night). Topping it all off with the weekly shop at Lidl.

You know how to have a good day londonpostie Fingers crossed for you kathrynI'm into month 3 of new job and much higher grades people have started cheerfully remarking that I liked being g stressed which is why I do my job. I've gone past the stage of fake smiles and have failed to find anyone who likes theatre and can't believe it's still only flipping Wednesday and have another 6 plus hour meeting tomorrow that necessitates getting up early. Ran away early today or couldn't be on here and have just eaten a whole bag of jelly beans which was not a good call.

When attempting to get off the train this afternoon I had to wait while 2 people with bikes who were completely blocking the lobby got off first. Except that they, especially the first person, were so slow that the train doors closed before I could get off. I had to go on to the next station, get off, & get another train back. Extremely hacked off.
