Lunch in a country pub. Great food. Reasonable Prices. Good selection of ales on pump. Log fire. Incredibly racist arsenugget at the bar.
There's something about an unsolicited comment detailing how white people aren't breeding fast enough and risk being overrun that ruins a meal. No, scratch that. There's everything about it that ruins a meal. Fortunately I'd almost finished, so I was able to burn my throat on my boiling hot coffee and leave.
Intellectually I know that these people are out there, but it's still deeply disturbing to run into one.

Waiting with eager anticipation for the Theatre Board equivalent of a Buss Pass now that I have reached the milestone that is a Senior.

Waiting with eager anticipation for the Theatre Board equivalent of a Buss Pass now that I have reached the milestone that is a Senior. And doing the double by going to a matinee at seniors' favourite, the Yvonne Arnaud!

showgirl , the age profile was definitely skewed towards the Senior, thought it may have been because of the play:cast but from your comment maybe not.

I was there, too, and though Thursday is my usual matinee day, today's audience was similar and typical. (No idea what they're like in the evening as I never go then; performances start ridiculously late and trains are fewer.) From where I was sitting, the usual suspects were out in force: many with sticks and some wheelchair users; talkers/loud whisperers; seat-kickers and one man whom I presume was deaf as he stood by me, bellowing painfully loudly at some friends whom he evidently hadn't seen for a while. As for the coughing contingent...!
I am not mocking as I'm a senior myself and the staff are very cheerful, helpful and considerate, but I was glad of my aisle seat for a speedy exit.

No idea if this goes here but I saw my University's production of Into The Woods yesterday and for a university that doesn't offer musical theatre training we have some serious talent. I was trying not to cry by the end, the favt they were able to perform so well in such an intimate space where you could see everyone's face. A little mindblowing, honestly bravo to all of them.

had the best day yesterday - doubleshowday at the Royal Albert Hall with "Disney Broadway Hits" - the 4 artists were insane, such brilliant voices! Goosebumps all the way! And afterwards i unexpectetly found myself in the meet-and-greet room and was surrounded by the 4 singers, plus some other West End Singers who were guests in the audience amazing

Just come out of a screening of City Lights at the BFI: I’ve never really got the fervour for Chaplin when it comes to old school Hollywood comic film stars, I’ve always preferred Laurel and Hardy and Harold Lloyd, but I thought this film was lovely, and will admit to wiping a tear from my eye at the end 😢🙂

I love Endeavour. What a brilliant series this has been. Can’t believe we have to wait another year for the next series

Both Keith Flint and Luke Perry dying on the same day - extra depressing to me as Keith was only a year older than me and Luke 4 years older - things like this make me realise how quick time flies and how life can just suddenly end, no matter what you have planned and what you think you will end up doing.

Feeling less than great today. I find myself wanting to distance myself further and further from some of my friends as their sh*tty behaviour continues to make me feel pretty rubbish too.
Debbie Downer isn’t usually my style, and these moments come and go but I’m really feeling it heavily today.

Sometimes it takes time to realise that is in fact what is happening. Keep us posted.

Flying to NYC for some business today and I’m flying a super odd flight to get there. Instead of flying out of Heathrow I’m flying out of London City. It’s a BA flight that only has 32 seats and it stops in Shannon to refuel and have the passengers go through US customs before heading to JFK.
It’s a super weird flight but I’m really interested to try it out. Never flown out of London City and I hope it’s more laid back then Heathrow.

It's nicknamed the 'baby bus', and is considered a bit special by flying enthusiasts. All Business Class, about as close to a 'private jet' experience as you can get on BA!

I was on a TINY plane from Cleveland to NYC last night. The kind with a row of one seats on one side and two on the other. It was an adventure. At least the flight was only an hour!

It was the least stressful airport experience I’d ever had!

City airport is just brilliant. It was the least stressful airport experience I’d ever had! This sounds really cool. Let us know how it goes. Is it very expensive? Yes, it is. I looked into it as a potential treat for my last NY trip as City Airport is my closest airport, but I couldn't justify paying 5 times the cost of flying from Heathrow on a perfectly adequate different full service airline! And given the immigration queue at JFK was practically non-existent when I arrived, I think the cheaper option actually turned out to be quicker!

Yeah, I’d only do the Baby Bus on avios points - I wouldn’t pay cash for it.

The Yellow Pages might just accidentallyonpurpose get left open on the divorce lawyers' page (again) as Mr Dozy Tibs somehow managed to cancel the direct debit for my phone whilst (legitimately) cancelling that of Maxi Tibs.
