Got offered a job I will quite enjoy that can work alongside my caring role which will hopefully help long term. Also got approval to work developing an idea I had a hand in creating to run in the UK. Congratulations infofreako . You deserve some good news. Good luck with it.

My day has started off well with a BBC Breakfast presenter (Ben Thompson, the one who looks like a young taller David Tennant) taking my light hearted comment about Young Enterprise (I said we used to knock up whatever in the DT lab) and quoted it as if I was saying 'Kids today tut' in an actual negative nasty manner.
I await the twitter hoards descending. Sigh.
(I genuinely got upset about this thinking I was going to get a lot of sh*t when for once I wasn't trying to start a fight)

Ben Thompson, the one who looks like a young taller David Tennant If I were you I'd request a personal meeting to discuss it with him, if he looks like that!

Ben Thompson, the one who looks like a young taller David Tennant If I were you I'd request a personal meeting to discuss it with him, if he looks like that! He is frankly a very attractive man and normally one of my favourites. I demand a personal apology (to take the form of my choosing!!)

taking my light hearted comment about Young Enterprise I read it, and couldn't see what the fuss was about - other than the facts that schools can't afford materials any more and we are no longer a manufacturing nation either. Both valid points that need looking at, I'd say. I demand a personal apology (to take the form of my choosing!!) Over to you, Mr Thompson, I guess... and the best of British (Welsh?) to you. Indeed! the only other flip-side to it I could have elaborated on was that these schools in the final every year are clearly the ones with large resources. Something my rough old Comp couldn't compete with anyway!

Found a fiver in the tumble dryer It's made of paper You should be able to exchange it at your bank, or failing that, the Bank of England.

I was wondering who manufactures origami tumble dryers. *sigh* I really should pay more attention to those notices about not feeding the monkeys....they always bite

Today we had a team-bonding day out of the office, doing a treasure hunt around the city of London. Good fun, but rather hot and sweaty. Now on a train which is being severely delayed, and when I get home I still have to nip to the supermarket and then pack for a 2-week work trip to California.

If you're in LA get in touch - I'll be there.

Horribly warm this evening/ We went for a walk at 9pm in the hope it would have cooled down a bit but no. Melting by the time we got home at 10.10pm even though it was dark by then. I'm not looking forward to London on Saturday.

Funeral was a very nice service and the wake afterwards was a lovely chance to catch up with people. It led to a very busy day having to dash off to a committee meeting straight after

Idea for a business venture - someone needs to organise a shuttle bus between my house and the ASOS returns department.
Teenagers. In my day we walked to Top Shop and Chelsea Girl. (Then bottled out of trying anything on in the communal changing rooms if we didn't have our best knickers on. Oh the horror!)

Eek 😱 Communal changing rooms - there's a horror from my past that I am glad died a death. OK for the confident of those with perfect figures but not for the rest of us. On the other hand they probably saved me lots of cash as I rarely ventured in to try anything on!

I'm gonna do the lottery tomorrow 'cos these things come in threes right? Not so healthy a prize, but had an email from my bank yesterday telling me that as I had a certain type of account I was eligible for a 10% discount on the buildings & contents cover I purchased from them 4 months ago and they were automatically adjusting my payments. All helps

I got back on the academic horse today after what can only be described as a epic fall (from grace possibly) and I was dreading attending today's conference so much I nearly didn't go. But I did. And nobody died.
It was on theatre fans actually. Lots of fascinating things but many I also thought "Oh sweetie you don't know the half of it" Y'all got a mention (and not just by me).
Anyway I waffled about Rentheads and growing up Renthead and lots of nonsense. It could have been worse.

Letter from HMRC: Dear Mrs Tibidabo,You have paid too much tax. HMRC owes you £181.80.Eh? Wha? This is actually a thing? I had one of those a few years ago. I'd been made redundant and decided to take some time to learn to drive before going back to work so it turned out I'd overpaid on my tax for the first part of the year. My reaction was the same sort of "Wait, what?"
