I've just had the clichéd office rage moment of 'why is someone taking 20 minutes to make a cup of coffee I want to use the kettle'
But then I also had a moment of 'you don't work in a normal building' on walking past a fire evacuation that involved an entire opera cast earlier.

Realised today that my problems with motivation are probably caused by the combination of "full time work" and "part time study" and "final assignments due next week" and "exam in two weeks" all resulting in "you are tired AF"... Decided to book couple of days off work at the start of June so that I can do sweet FA and just relax. Looking forward to that!

I have literally just found an album on Spotify called 'dee does broadway' and it is all your favourite songs in a very different way. I do not know what to make it and can't figure out if I love it or hate it. please listen to it

I feel that- I'm not studying but I've got so much work-outside-work going on that I'm a) exhausted b) struggling to get any of it done. Keep plodding on though and soon you'll get to those sweet FA days!!

It's a better and more sincere take on Broadway than most 80's/90's sleaze rock performers would produce, but essentially a novelty (I say this as a fan of both Broadway and 80's/90's sleaze rock. There's better examples of both). Impressed he got Bebe Neuwirth out for the trip, though. Quite like the Sweeney Todd and Razzle Dazzle.

Swings and roundabouts: yesterday I made a short-notice extra trip to London to catch up on films and plays and had a great time, loving everything I saw, yet today, which had long been planned, I was hugely disappointed by both plays (Gabriel and An Octoroon), which I had been looking forward to seeing. However, today's plays were so dire that it was almost funny and given the wet weather, at least I was better off indoors.

Just came back from watching "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?" and I think that all of Imelda's shouts worked the treat for me

This has just been one of those days I'm looking forward to going to bed and hoping I wake up in a less anxious mood tomorrow - manic day at work and now a huge anxiety attack in one of the worst ways for me - health anxiety - which is never fun. Currently trying to suppress it enough to get to sleep, hoping getting distracted on here will help a bit.

An eye surgeon removed my father's cataract so he has clear vision in one eye again now. 20 minutes. Modern medicine is AMAZING. No bill, just 2 weeks from consultation to operation. The NHS is also AMAZING. Oh, and eye-doctors totally rock. They totally do. My mum had a detached retina last year, and fixing that left her with a cataract that has also just been fixed. She was at Moorfields getting emergency treatment for the detached retina - being seen by the top consultant - when he was reminded that he had a private patient waiting for an appointment. He literally said 'well this NHS patient has an emergency, so they'll just have to wait!' Love the NHS.

Last year my mother had to wait a couple months to have 1 eye done then another 5 months to have the 2nd one done. Spending 5 months with 1 eye newly almost-normal-sighted while the other eye was still short-sighted was pretty difficult for her.

Yes, my mum had a YEAR between getting the first eye done and the second! Luckily my sister persuaded her it was worth getting an interim pair of glasses after having the first eye done (they advise you to wait until both eyes are done!) so she could see my daughter getting married! The impact on her confidence about walking was huge until she got this "interim" pair of glasses...sometimes I don't think politicians realise how quickly an older person can lose abilities!

My partner had to have corrective eye surgery there a few years back to successfully clear up the mess that Op****x left them in after laser surgery. Moorfields were ace. If only Moorfields had popped up in all the research we'd done before she opted to have the original surgery but hindsight blah blah. I trust your mum's eyes are now tip top or ish, at least?!

Not quite - she has a cataract developing in the other eye, now. But it'll probably be some time before it gets bad enough for surgery. She had laser eye treatment about 13/14 years ago, and while it didn't get botched, it definitely increased her risk of complications. It does put me off getting it done, I must say - especially as my eyes aren't that bad.

I had to do a 3 month internship for uni. I really didn't wanna do it at first. But Friday was my last day and I actually really miss the people now and I don't know what to with my life atm.

After starting the day in trendy style wandering the streets around Brick lane observing Hipsters in their native envirnoment, I've ended it in less glamourous style, back in Cardiff helping Mum shove a sofa out of a door that was not designed for a sofa to be shoved through (in advance of a new one arriving tommorrow. That is smaller and will hopefully require less shoving)

Just back from Iron Maiden and so a little giddy right now - life-affirming stuff: "We may have just sung a bunch of songs about mass-murder, but so far we haven't killed anyone".

Came to work to discover that Cardiff is already covered in barricades for the football next week. Nothing like concrete walls and yellow barricades outside your office to say 'happy Monday'

Update: I'm getting live Sofa delivery text messages. It's quite exciting. Will it get in through the door? which door? it's all very Chuckle Brothers...
In other news, it's Monday. And my advice in life is: never work with children, animals, artists or academics.

Am now RICE-ing it in front of the TV. I walked into the bed this morning while getting ready for work...badly bruised toes so have been hobbling round all day....so I feel your pain, literally! Glad about the good news and team lunch!
