I'm just settling down to watch the annual live, six-hour, BBC-red-button coverage of the equestrian cross country from Badminton. I've just finished watching the same. I wish the BBC showed more equestrianism, it's my favourite spectator sport. I used to go every year as a teen to the Cross Country day! And love watching on TV, likewise wish there were more Equestrianism on tv.

Currently my old Headmaster is in the meeting room next to me. So that's weird (he happens to be on our board, but it always is a bit weird)

And love watching on TV, likewise wish there were more Equestrianism on tv. I've been to Burghley but not to Badminton, as I'm the wrong side of the country. I've just caught up with the showjumping highlights, as I was theatregoing yesterday so couldn't watch it live. Thrilled to see Andrew Nicholson finally winning at his 36th attempt!

Used to love going to Badminton when I was younger and lived nearby. I used to make a point of walking the entire course and seeing at least one horse at every jump. Today however has been spent with a mob of y6 children and the y6 reading test. Need a long drink!

Ongoing health issues for my partner are proving increasingly trying. As some of you know she is visually impaired and diabetic but is going through a really tough few weeks. Nerve damage (possibly) that they are trying to get the bottom of has left her struggling to walk more than a few feet unaided and yesterday she started to have seizures so Im expecting to be making more doctors and hospital trips

Well, it's started fine : just booked tickets for the Pink Floyd Their Mortal Remain exhibition at the V&A ! Doubt it'll be as good as their Bowie exhibition of a few years ago but still going to the V&A is always a pleasure

Today I've appreciated the true value of learning from one's own lessons.
Comments of an ignorant and belittling nature from some would have caused me to bite back, just to prove a point that I'm not a pushover. But from experience I've come to understand that life really is too short to engage in futile behaviour. Partly, from the words of advice mods have given to others on here about not rising to the bait. It's just that for some their lives are worthless without having to ridicule others and their achievements.
Plus, I've nearly finished my research project which is due on Monday. Good times.

I scratched my face shaving, which wasn't ideal way to start the day. But other than that, I did some writing (I am currently writing a play!) and also went for a sunbed and a coffee with a friend. So I have had a lovely day thus far.

Went to the Giants-Mets (baseball!) game last night; my team lost, but it was a fun evening out. I'm pretty sleepy today, though!

I just had my first-ever salsa class. I am hilariously bad. Not sure if I'll go back next week or not.

Last night I went to see a local teenage drama group perform a physical theatre piece. The kids were aged 12 - 18 and they chose to devise an extremely serious piece following a fictional Syrian young refugee arriving alone in England, after surviving certain horrors in her homeland.
It was truly inspirational. Most of the kids (boys and girls) took a turn at playing the young girl, swapping a headscarf to make it clear whose turn it was. A small injection of comedy was also appositely inserted and the whole thing made several members of the audience want to go home and do something for the refugees. It was heavy and thought-provoking and it is wonderful that they were given the opportunity to do this.

My daughter did this...she had a chuckle afterwards and said it was a lesson in always leaving potential as potential....until she tried it she could persuade herself that the fact she could do one "forward back" step with a wiggle of the hips meant she would be good at it! Her potential was all ruined when she actually went to a class!

A good day at the Theatre seeing Harry Potter. Then I forgot the Tubes to my neck of the woods are up the creek Monday-Wednesday so nearly did the wrong thing a few times to get home!

I have a washing machine repair man coming this morning - it's developed a small leak. Unfortunately I have the tiniest kitchen ever - I can't fit the fridge in it, and there's just enough room to stand between the sink and the washing machine on opposite walls. So last night my dad popped round and we dismantled the kitchen cabinet next to the washing machine (which fortunately wasn't the only thing holding the worktop up - though I'm not putting any weight on it until we get it properly supported) to create some access space to the back of it. I now have bits of kitchen cabinet and all my pots and pans in the spare bedroom.
Sod's law it'll turn out to be the door seal that's the problem.
Edit: it was the inlet hose - at the back - so the decision to demolish the kitchen cabinet was correct.

Planted a little tree. Ok, I personally didn't dig the hole but I do feel weight of responsibility.

Sorry to read that Geoffrey Bayldon, aka Catweazle and the Crowman in Worzel Gummidge (amongst many other roles) has passed away aged 93: R.I.P.
I am also somewhat saddened to see that it's 21 years since Jon Pertwee passed away, at the rate time seems to be flying by, I'll soon be of the right age to play Catweazle myself...

I've been dealing with a nasty headache for 36 hours straight at this point. Being of the female persuasion sucks so much sometimes. I am now breakfasting on Nurofen Plus and coffee in the hope that my head will sort itself out as I'm going to Brussels today to ogle some dashing Frenchmen on stage. Then off to Norway tomorrow evening to spend a week trapped on a boat with 2000 Germans. Lord give me patience. I hear you. And for what it's worth, you're not on your own x

Had a nasty twitter bully incident to round off my day. My twitter brings out the worst in people, and my academics can be the lowest of the low in that respect sometimes. First time a social media incident has left me genuinely scared and upset though. (I'm fine now)

This stroll down the South Bank from the National and past where the Globe isn't yet with Bob Hoskins and Barry Norman is well worth 7 minutes of your time
