Quick trip to Morrisons this morning and scanning the goods at the self service check out came up with this - I know the price of food has gone up but not that much!

I’ve been away on holiday and fell ill with a hacking cough. Totally exhausted and lethargic. Spoilt a few days of my holiday. Flew home on Mon only to smell burning in the plane which diverted to Rome. Pretty much abandoned by BA, no drink or food offered. After 6hrs in Rome airport we were eventually put up in a hotel for the night but told to watch our emails for a flight in the morning…..no sleep then. Got put on a flight to Heathrow but our car was in Gatwick. I knew BA had an obligation to get us to Gatwick but when I spoke to customer services they offered us a voucher to get the National Express coach, nearly 2 hrs as it goes to other stops. So we paid £133 for a 45 min taxi ride to Gatwick. I’m still ill, but now a lot poorer

I think Rome comes in at under 1500km so you are due 250 Euros

They owe us for some soft drinks, sandwiches (as they offered us nothing), taxi and then I will be looking at stress and lack of information and updates which had us all sitting around for hours with nothing, and abandonment of a disabled person. Yes we got a hotel room so know we don’t get anything there. Dreading flying with them again in 10 days……goodness knows where we’ll end up. Thanks for your response

Aren't these lighter evenings great!? I feel like I'm getting twice as much done in half the time. And lovely to get the bike out, too!

I've decided to have an 8-day theatre binge in London the day after the Coronation so I'm currently planning the shows to watch. So far things already booked -
Dr Zhivago in Concert Operation Mincemeat Retrograde Winnie the Pooh The Secret Life of Bees Once on This Island How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying A Little Life (stage seating)
With a few more slots still up for grabs, some possible bookings -
Ain't Too Proud (prob day seat / offers) Broke Back Mountain Dancing At Lughnasa Dixon and Daughters
For some reason I've decided to attempt a 3 show day with Winnie The Pooh / Secret Life of Bees / Once On This Island and end the trip with a Sunday matinee of A Little Life.

How are you on a bike?
Very cheap option, builds in so much flexibility. An obv. choice is the Santander scheme because there are just so many bikes, eveywhere (from a docking station - d/l the app).
Lime is also very popular atm, they are e-assisted (you pedal a bit, the bike boosts). They are found randomly on the streets, via the app.
p.s. Guys and Dolls on TodayTix?

What ads do people currently get at the bottom of the theatreboard pages? I'm getting lots of ads for teeth implants (are they trying to tell me something) but the picture with the ad is quite scary so I try not to scroll right down to the bottom.

Don’t normally take any notice of them, but I’ve had one for railcard, one about e-commerce website development and one for investing in gold. Pretty random assortment.

Went back to work after a week off. Lovely to be receipting new books again and always fascinating to see what books people reserve from our store of old library books…someone reserved 3 books on making Corn Dollies! And of course all the Martin Amis fiction books 😞

If you like the hungry stare of a Scottish Wildcat, you will love the permanently annoyed glare and floofiness of a Pallas Cat - there were kittens born last year at my local wildlife park... Well here I am with blooming Covid. Had to cancel 2 shows tomorrow. Thankfully one I could reschedule, but Sadly it doesn’t look like I’ll get to see Rose as I am fully booked up with other things until the end of the run

I had it two weeks back for the first time. Really rough for twenty four hours and then a bit under the weather for a couple of weeks. I thought I was a mutant who was immune to covid. I was a bit disappointed to get ill.

Lots of it about at the moment. Daughter 1 (who also thought she was immune!) had for first time and daughter no 2 had it for 3rd time. 2 weeks recovery for son-in-law. Take it steady!

Thank you, 4 days in. Not got another show until 8th Jun so should be well cleared by then. I’ve been lucky really as I usually have 2 shows most Sat, but I’d set aside this weekend for something else (not happening now) and cancelled 2 shows on 3 Jun due to train strikes. Gives me decent wriggle room for recovery. Any other time and it would mess up far more theatre trips

Me n the phone to my best friend: “I’ve booked to see Sunset Boulevard in London in the autumn. Nicole Scherzinger is in it” Friend (sings in exaggerated cockney accent) “Tale as old as time, true as it can be, barely even…” Me: “That’s not Sunset Boulevard it’s Beauty And The Beast” Friend: “And who sang that?’ Me: “Angela Lansbury” Friend: “Oh yes, she died today didn’t she?” Me: “ No, Angela Lansbury died a few months ago” Friend: “Thaaaats right. Who died today then?” Me: “Glenda Jackson died today, sadly” Him: “Did she do any musicals?”

Might have to concede, may be better than bumping in to me at Hammersmith Wetherspoon’s.
Not sure I would have had the confidence to start a chat and would likely give weird stares for the entire journey.

I must admit it took me a few minutes to work out who it was at first along with some quick internet searching to make sure!

A good couple of hours at WEL today but the the highlight of the day was seeing the fly past of all the RAF planes and the Red Arrows in action. A brilliant experience to be part of with everyone in Trafalgar Square.
