Having had a really crappy few weeks at work. I had a day off yesterday to see a couple of shows. London was Sunny, people were smiling and seemed happy and my theatre choices made me realise that theatre really does soothe the soul. For a day at least I felt happy. I love the last sentence. Reminds me of Eugene O’Neill and Tennessee Williams

It’s Friday and it’s payday so I’m happy with that. Back home today after a really great birthday London theatre binge. It was really nice to meet more board members and chat all things theatre and see some really great shows. Until next month for WEL.

The focus may be on London this weekend, but there's still plenty going on in the grim north. My day began with a turn around the Sheffield food festival. I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed that only four of the traders are using a converted horsebox.By the time the rest have caught up, the trend will have moved on. In the square outside the world-famous Crucible Theatre, they're filming The Full Monty. That Robert Carlyle has really let himself go! They were so well disguised, I found myself accidentally standing amongst those with small parts. 😉 Later this afternoon, when 'its a wrap', I'll be going to an extravaganza in the park, as Jonny Briggs' brother would say.

Well while we're talking name dropping, I was walking in Malvern yesterday where I live and who should be sitting on a bench in the Priory grounds with film crew around? None other than Pam Ayres and Anne Diamond! They were filming the new series of Pam Ayres travel sreies round trhe Cotswolds and more apparently! Anne Diamond comes from Malvern so i found out later!

Highlight of day watching two men wildly whirl round two giant poles with fiercely burning ends they'd used to light the village beacon and then couldn't put out. Also huge showers of sparks falling from said beacon onto the footpath and highly flammable bunting.

Just down from the Malvern Hills after seeing the Worcestershire Beacon lit. Was packed up there but quite an experience, and trying to get down in the dark too!

I’m having a nice relaxing morning in a cat cafe in Liverpool. Being surround by cats while I’m having coffee and cake is a really relaxing experience and it’s the purrfect way to unwind.

I’m having a nice relaxing morning in a cat cafe in Liverpool. I'd like to go to a cat cafe some day but I've never managed to get around to it.
Today I had a nice relaxing lunch in a dog pub. It was just an ordinary pub with a dog in it, but it was one of those exceptionally friendly dogs that seems to be a lot more dog than is actually there.

Today, I am packing my rucksack as tomorrow I start walking the entire Thames Path. I'm walking in memory of my partner who died of cancer and all proceeds go to Maggies. If any one want to know more or sponsor below is the link. Many thanks xx www.justgiving.com/fundraising/christian-holt2

Had a mad week or so! Last weekend, I went to Wembley to see Port Vale get promoted! It was an epic day out and even more special that my Dad was able to come after all his problems last year.
Yesterday, was my Snowdon climb. It went well in that I got to the top and didn’t die, but it was ALOT harder than I thought it would be, even on the Llanberis path which is meant to be the easiest! It was ok until the halfway house, then it just got pure evil! Took us 7 hours up and down but I don’t care, I did it! Weirdly, the summit was the worst part, it was foggy/cloudy, icy rain, blowing a gale and the queue on the steps to the summit marker was downright dangerous. Coming down was also rough on my knee and feet! My first mountain! Never again! Raised £450 though so I’m happy

After my recent on stage appearance at the SWP’s “Anyone Can Whistle”, this has been followed up this afternoon with me making an on stage appearance at Bolton Octagon’s “One Man, Two Guvnors” as part of the audience participation bit with another gent helping to lift a case. I was also sat next to the “audience member” who plays Christine Patterson who gets a soaking.
At the end of the show, I got some really nice feedback about my acting so maybe a new career is on the cards? Hopefully my acting will be recognised in any “new comer” theatre awards.

I was there about a fortnight ago, it was 15 degrees and there were locals in shorts and T-Shirts complaining about the heat wave!
I didn't sleep much either with hotels having terrible curtains for somewhere with 24 hour daylight.
Otherwise, it seemed a really nice city, although I couldn't afford to visit for any length of time (this trip was work related).

Wish there was a heatwave now! I’m perished! The wind today has been insane which I think has made it feel colder. Had a great day today, went on a food walk and then went to the sky lagoon which is out of this world incredible. Yes, it’s eye wateringly expensive here, but I love it! This is my first midsummer visit and the 24h daylight thing is really really wierd, in a cool way! Also, since I was here last, Reykjavik have introduced electronic scooters so I’ve been zipping about on them, they’re ace! Shame they’re not allowed in the U.K. cos they’re a quick easy cheap environmentally friendly way to get about!

Not entirely sure they are the right place to have them as it is hard enough watching out for cyclists and pedestrians …..and as a pedestrian it seems to make navigating the city centre a bit more fraught (they seem to just use pavements sometimes and are rather unpredictable). They do look fun though! Do you feel less tired when it never goes dark? Watching test cricket on TV as husband has finally succumbed to Covid. We were supposed to be seeing cousins up North, who we haven't met up with for over 5 years tomorrow….for a 60th celebration. Ah well. Can someone please tell Covid we are done with it now?

Is anyone else horrified at the way things are going in the US at the moment? The Republican-dominated Supreme Court has just ruled that states can't be allowed to set their own rules about gun control, despite the fact that the country leads the world in mass shootings. The Supreme Court has also ruled that states must be allowed set their own rules to ban abortions, despite the fact that this will probably cause many more deaths than it will prevent. What with the Republicans opposing all attempts to control the coronavirus, refusing to accept that Trump lost the 2020 election, and the fact that the election of the latest Supreme Court judge was corrupt as hell, it's like the party has decided to drop any pretence of trying to do the right thing and just be full-on evil.
I mean, our Conservative party has done some pretty evil things. But they're not two-mass-shootings-a-day-isn't-enough, why-shouldn't-a-twelve-year-old-be-forced-to-have-a-baby evil.

Yes horrified. But wouldn’t be too sure about our Government….right to protest noisily? Bill of rights, only the bits we fancy thank you very much, voter ID to suppress people (mostly poor) from voting…..breaking the law….proroguing parliament when it suits them….corruption in the Brexit campaign…Windrush…..workers rights…..selling the schools and the NHS for profit? Refugees being called “economic migrants” and sent to Rwanda. Unemployed being called “scrounges” Food banks. It’s deeply distressing. Each small step takes us closer to the F word. And remember, people don’t think THEY will be targeted, it only happens to someone else. By the time they are, it’s too late.
