My day was going fine until I saw that yet again someone had defecated on one of my posts.

Perhaps it was a gull or a pigeon.

I've been buying shoes. I have terrible trouble finding comfortable shoes and the only shop anywhere near me that I could find them was the Brantano just down the road. Now the company is in administration as a result of the plummeting pound so I'm getting shoes while I can.

All hail theatre bargains (and this board for highlighting them) - Carousel tonight will be my 4th show in 5 days for a total spend of under £60 and bar tonight when I've deliberately chosen a distant view, I've been no further back than Row E of the Stalls. Also - quick shout out for the blood nurse who folded over one corner of the incredibly sticky dressings they use (much as you would with the end of a roll of sellotape) for ease of removal later! It's the little things

incredibly sticky dressings they use To remove sticking plasters without pain, brush your teeth and let the toothpaste foam dribble onto the plaster. It falls off with ease. Useful tip! It's not so much the pain with these ones, more the impossibility of picking a corner loose. Job done for me this time

Sat in the gods in a restricted view seat... but oh the irony, despite wanting to mostly hear and not see, I've been upgraded to the Dress Circle!

Just re-watched a bit of Singin' In The Rain, due to a discussion on monkey fur (no prizes for guesing which board member I'm having that with!). I really must watch all of it again soon. Such a great film. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow morning to investigate a blocked tear duct. I really hope they don't want to do too much investigating as, in a bit of bad timing, I have theatre booked tomorrow evening & being able to see would be preferable. Sat in the gods in a restricted view seat... but oh the irony, despite wanting to mostly hear and not see, I've been upgraded to the Dress Circle! I think that's the first time I've seen someone complain about being upgraded! I wonder if you can refuse an upgrade & insist on sitting in your original seat? After all, you selected it & paid for it. Although possibly sitting with your eyes shut would be easier.

I assume you can't refuse an upgrade, as I believe it's often done so they don't have to unnecessarily staff the uppermost level(s), and if they've sent the staff home, they can't really spare anyone else to be up there just for a couple of stubborn people who want to sit in the exact seats they paid for. That said, I've been upgraded from the Lilian Baylis circle to the stalls at the Old Vic, but there were still plenty of people up there. Maybe my original seat was double-booked? I'll never know for sure though.

At the Old Vic we were upgraded from cheaper dress circle to top price seats when our original seats were occupied by others and the place was full. No idea why but we were happy!

I had a theatreboard dream last night...I dreamt that @jeanhunt was selling me Cursed Child tickets, but when I got there you turned out to be with a bunch of threatening (in my dream) nerdy comic-book guy from the Simpsons looking guys, and my friend Kat was telling me there was no way she was leaving me alone with you people! Clearly my friends in my dreams are very protective!
So now obviously I'll be very wary of Harry Potter fans trying to sell me stuff haha

Just completed another survey for an online survey company I subscribe to, and found I have now done enough of them this quarter to cash in for £30 Amazon vouchers. Enough for the RSC "Love's Labours" double DVD set, plus change for the "Kindle Books" bank too. Not a bad way to keep me in pocket money, I guess . I first read that as 'double duvet set.' I had you down more as a king (kong) size.

I saw Sheridan Smith's Fanny (Brice) last night and loved it. I'm considering getting tickets for tomorrow as well...

Lovely long walk through the Surrey Hills, route chosen to visit as many bluebell woods as possible while the blooms last. Also testing out my new GPS watch which is far more accurate than a wheel at measuring distance (and altitude!), but which doesn't appear to have anything like the claimed battery life of up to 11 hours. Managed 33 miles before having to turn it off for fear it'd expire and lose everything for that day.
NB: if anyone knows of a GPS watch which genuinely does have a decent battery life, please let me know!

Just booked my next Eurostar ticket to London. After the last super-annoying flight from Heathrow back to Germany last month (draconian security lady, late departure, stuffy overheated plane) I love the train even more and it just thrills me to pay only 106 Euro for the complete railway journey from the Belgian outback via Brussel which includes a suitcase.
And while security in Brussels has been (understandably) tighter recently it's nothing like the nonsense on airports which force you to half undress and unpack half the contents of your carry-on. Amusingly the trip TO London will be on my birthday, not that I expect preferential treatment or a birthday cake delivered to my seat...

Off to The Life tonight... kind friend and theatre buddy putting me up for the night to eliminate last train panic. What I'm wondering is whether that means I'm morally obliged to go into the London office tomorrow or whether I could quietly hop on an early train home...
