got plenty of sugar and toilet rolls thanks to my grandma's little shopping trips in 1974... Mine too. Boxes and boxes of Izal, and a chest of draws in the back bedroom full of Silver Spoon. I think it was living with rationing all those years.

caught up on a tube train with half a country of football morons. Sorry to quote myself. Mini Tibs was travelling around London tonight and knew there was a match at Wembley finishing at 9.30. Having to pass through there she set off in plenty of time to avoid stadium kick-out. But, well, it's snowing and points are freezing as it's the wrong kind of snow (actually, until someone invents warm snow then it's always the wrong kind as far as I'm concerned) and things didn't quite go to plan. She was on a delayed train that would now be passing through Wembley, perfectly timed to collide with the feral fartheads. As the train approaches she braces herself, heeds her father's warnings about what these barbarous beings do when they need to relieve themselves, thus ensuring all her pockets and bags are tightly fastened, covers her face with her hair and gets out her emergency copy of Michael Ball's autobiography which is guaranteed to ward off even the most untamed. All ready ..... *Bing Bong* We would like to inform customers that this train is now semi fast and will not be stopping at Wembley!Aw. I hope they're not still there. All cold. π―ππ― Now I was 100% with Mr Tibs' advice, every single step of the way, right up to the point of taking an emergency copy of something out of her bag, when you suddenly dropped the bombshell that it was Michael Friggin' Ball's autobiography for God's sake! Those "feral fartheads" won't be deterred by that; they'll see it as an invitation to snatch it off her, rip out the pages one by one and use it as toilet paper in front of her very eyes...

After the disappointing experience @caiaphas had earlier this week, requesting a date change for Girl From The North Country due to the adverse weather, I'd like to give credit to the Rose Theatre in Kingston. There's nothing on their website or Twitter feed about this, but when I spoke to the Box Office this morning re my concern about being able to get there for today's performance (and/or home afterwards), the assistant kindly moved my booking to a later date at no extra cost. That's the sort of attitude I will remember and which encourages loyalty.

That's the sort of attitude I will remember and which encourages loyalty. It was the attitude of Mr Box Office that I was initially taken aback by. He'd obviously had a number of calls/emails/callers about the same thing so when I stood at the window, he could barely be bothered to look up. And as soon as I started with, "I've got a bit of a problem..." he'd already switched off and had his line prepared. I was surprised (I know what's written into the ticket contract blah, blah, blah...) but I honestly thought they'd just switch my tickets given the circumstances (I wasn't asking for them to return any money- they could keep that. Just offer me another day. The show's not exactly overbooked, is it??) and Delfont Mackintosh have always been extremely helpful when I've booked with them in the past. The other thing that really pissed me off was the fact that I am "a regular" at Mr Mackintosh's shows (I dread to think how many £££ I've passed in his direction over the years) yet my loyalty counted for nothing. (I might add that on previous occasions when I have been unable to attend a show, other theatres have always been very helpful.) As you say, showgirl, you remember kind attitude and you are encouraged to return.

I'm sorry you were so unlucky, @caiaphas and given what you say about your experience in general and re being a DM regular, I think it'd be worth emailing them to remonstrate gently, and to point out that your loyalty seems poorly rewarded. That's if you can face the hassle, but to me it would feel like unfinished business.

You know those days that aren't that bad in the grand scheme of things but feel like they are as they happen? Yeah I've had one of them. Started work at 6am, swear my workplace don't know what heating is or at least if they do they don't care enough to switch it on/up regardless of how much we complain. Spent 8 hours trying (and failing) to warm up, I mean if I need tights, leggings and two tops on underneath my uniform it's definitely too cold. Sat in my car for nearly 20 minutes trying to build up the confidence to complete the 10 minute drive home. Had tickets for the Wicked tour tonight, couldn't go thanks to the snow, and now I've found out it was a no fly show - I've always dreamed of seeing one of them. Now I've just made myself a hot chocolate and sat down with the book I'm currently reading, promptly spilt the drink over the book, looks like I won't be finishing the book tonight π (and looks like I'll have to replace the book in order to find out the ending). So yeah nothing major individually. Nothing major in the grand scheme of things but I can't wait for today to be over.

Do they go round swatting them beforehand, or does the theatre stink of Vapona?

Do they go round swatting them beforehand, or does the theatre stink of Vapona? If only I was there Iβd be able to answer regarding the smell π Usually though Iβd say they go around swatting them, never seen any before and it doesnβt normally smell in there

^In all seriousness ensembleswings, what is a no fly show? And if you tell us what book you drowned in hot chocolate someone might be able to tell you the ending..

Tibidabo a no fly show is (in Wicked) where Elphaba doesn't *fly* during Defying Gravity. As for the book it's called 'Perfect Prey' wrote by Helen Fields. Irritating as I'd really got into the book, may just have to download it onto my kindle so I can finish it today. Decided to give myself a snow day today. Did originally plan on going to work, I got myself ready and did leave the house however the snow was worse than I thought (it's not completely awful but still). Walked round to the main road to see what it was like and whether to risk it only to go over on my ankle - impossible to tell where the pavement ended and the road began, after that I decided to give up with today and rang work to say I wasn't going in

(geddit?) As for the book - seems to be a crime author I've missed! I've put the first in the series in my Amazon basket as it looks right up my alley! Thanks! I hope the ending is worth the hassle.

swear my workplace don't know what heating is or at least if they do they don't care enough to switch it on/up Indoor temperatures are covered by the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, which place a legal obligation on employers to provide a βreasonableβ temperature in the workplace. 'Reasonable' is generally accepted to be 16 degrees C, or 13 degrees C if the work involves rigorous physical activity.

Tibidabo I read the first book (Perfect Remains?) within 48 hours, had me gripped throughout, never expected to enjoy it as much as I did. I've caved, bought the book again and downloaded it to my kindle, that's my snow day sorted. TallPaul it's got to the stage where a few colleagues have asked for them to provide a thermometer so we can prove that it's less than a reasonable temperature. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it soon and get the heating sorted

it looks right up my alley! Go on @caiaphas . You've got an open goal there. Oh, I don't think I'd score there... I'm on the other team, you see. But if ever I do decide to change sides, it's certainly worth a try. (And I sneaked a little rugby one in there too, for the Real Men )

Quite stressful morning! Dearest, darlingest momsie and popsicle are flying to Edinburgh today, 7:30 pm. Guess what? Flight diverted to Glasgow Prestwick (70 miles away). I don't own a car. Neither does my brother. My boss offered to take his defender to the road as a last resort. Called Ryanair and they mumbled that they don't know if they will arrange transport for the passengers, but they will reimburse costs of getting to Edinburgh. Finally called Prestwick Airport and a lovely lady assured me that they will transfer people to Edinburgh Airport if Ryanair fails to do so. I feel much better now, but will still ask my friends who live in Prestwick to be on standby if they need to rescue a pair of middle-aged Poles. Fun and games, and the snow can f**k right off!

Me and my friend are braving the trip to London on the megabus, we've assesed our route and no roads are closed and we're keeping a close eye on them all to make sure nothing happens. Unless something does happem megabus are anticipating minimal delays through the night. So hopefully we'll get to London and get those wicked dayseats.

Just flicking through "Todaytix" as you do. Decided to glance at whats available in Washington D.C. where my eldest son & his family live.- Well nearly - just over the Maryland border. What a surprise! There are tickets for "Don Carlo" at the Kennedy Centre. My daughter in law is in that!

Surreal, Jubilee at the Lyric Hammersmith, & A Passage to India at the Park Theatre.
The wonderful diversity of London Theatre encapsulated in two plays on one day.

Nice couple of days. Arrived in Sydney yesterday evening in time to catch some of the Mardi Gras parade and experience the general excitement of the party. Lots of people out on the streets to have a very good time!
Woke up this morning and opened the hotel room blind just in time to catch a glorious sunrise over the harbour. Then did an electric-bike tour of the city this morning which was a lot of fun (and just me and the guide - it turns out no-one else gets up for 9am the Sunday morning after Mardi Gras). This afternoon did an interesting walking tour of the Rocks and then had a little wander back to the hotel for some drinks and nibbles. Iβm sitting on the lounge balcony right now making the most of the dry weather, since itβs meant to rain tomorrow.

If you can manage it you should try to visit the Capitol Theatre and/or the State Theatre. They both have wonderful interiors. 'Mamma Mia' is playing at the Capitol but it is dark on Monday and Tuesday. I don't know whether tours are available to see the building but I believe the foyers and bars are open during the day. I don't know what is on at the State (it often shows movies) but they do tours of the very impressive building, although the only bit otherwise normally accessible to the public during the day is the small foyer on Market Street which is still worth a look if you are in the vicinity.
