Drive - why the female backing dancers - very distracting (or were they needed?). Individually they did not shine or as a group! In trouble with the vote later I think. Definitely a Drive By!!

Nightfall - Despite me thinking that the fire on the piano might get out of control at any moment, I thought they were vocally very good, especially the guy who has been in Thriller for 4 years! I would think they would go through.

Yes they were good. The guy from Thriller very good but he didn't really seem to gel well with the others in the clip beforehand.

I would think they would go through. Agree. Vocally the best so far and a ready made Gary Barlow on piano.

Neon Panda (again a terrible name). Oh dear - the girly dancers were back. Again distracting and pulling focus away from the band. Did them no favours. Good song choice. Not as vocally strong as Nightfall. 50/50 with this as to whether they go through - it will depend on what the last band is like.

"There's nothing wrong with being fifty, unless you're playing twenty". Sorry but I think Jason looks ridiculous. He is undoubtedly a young looking guy but being young looking isn't the same as being young.

Band 2 - the rock n roll
Dreadful. All of them were off key.

Five To Five - 50/50 on this band as well. Certainly in the best slot (last) and the budget had been spent on the staging giving them every chance. A well staged number. It will probably see them through.
SO Drive and Neon Panda in the bottom two for me...... But who knows how the vote will go these days!

Night fall and 5 to 5 were the best for me. Night fall were best vocally and 5 to 5 prettiest.

I'm not criticising him, as I'd be the same - I look just as young of course - one of them is basically half his age. It'd be like me being in a band with one of my GCSE students. Odd.

SO Drive and Neon Panda in the bottom two for me...... But who knows how the vote will go these days! So I called it correctly! So this is where they start to mix up the boys - 5 boys from 10 not necessarily in the same band which makes a mockery of all this bonding they had to do in their respective band.

Yes, they will have to have a new name - how about Panda Drive?
They are all so incredibly nervous!! It looks like they are about to be executed! SO pitchy!!!

A shame for Matt Thorpe in his part there, he didn't get to showcase his voice at all. I'm very lucky I got to see him on as Frankie Valli 2 years ago and he was excellent, he has also played Galileo!

Jersey Boys isn't anywhere near my top 3 too Bear but I can't help but tap my foot everytime I see them on TV! A bit unusual seeing that many Jersey Boys but I suppose it was good for the crazy following of the show seeing a few old faces back

Any idea when the apparently alien concept of being able to act may be mentioned?

Any idea when the apparently alien concept of being able to act may be mentioned? I was discussing this with my friend earlier, Is the show like Thriller and there will only be songs ? The complete lack of mention of acting makes me think so but then it would be pretty boring. Does anyone know if there is plans for a storyline like We Will Rock You or Mamma Mia or is it just young lads having a sing song along to Take That songs ?? I'm embarrassed to say my mother is a HUGE Take That fan so if anyone else goes to see it in Glasgow (presuming it goes there, or Edinburgh), expect to see her there being the one we always talk about in the Bad Behaviour thread.

Any idea when the apparently alien concept of being able to act may be mentioned? Isn't that the videos before each performance where they all say how "great" the others are?

I don't know why I am watching this - I really must get a life.
So next week 4 "bands" compete in the semi final. Assuming there are 3 bands left in the final, next week does just the lowest scoring band leave or are they repeating this weeks nonsense of choosing 5 guys from the 2 lowest scoring bands. Does anyone know? Do the producers know?
I suspect that the winning band will be from one of the two that have gone straight through - having had more time together to rehearse harmonies etc. and do this "essential bonding". Thus I am convinced that several poorer performers in that group will be carried through.
Why do I care? Nurse.... more medication!

These twists are just a foil to manipulate the chosen ones to the final.
They ought to call the winning band The Chosen.

These twists are just a foil to manipulate the chosen ones to the final. They ought to call the winning band The Chosen. Oh how right you are BurlyBeaR. It struck me last night when they started to weed out people in the "vote off sing off"! As for theories about the ability to act, what's that got to do with it? These shows are about want. "I want to be in a west end show" and that is all it takes. These people (with a couple of exceptions) don't want to train for a couple of years in college, get to know the disciplines and techniques of performing - they just well, want! All that training is no substitute for singing round the house and entertaining me mams mates who say I've got "it". As for the promoters, well they just want to build an audience. Now I want to be Paul Schofield, so will someone please put on a tv show for middle aged men with grey hair to star in a west end revival of "A man for all seasons" please, 'cos I want, and I've done some acting before and me mam and her mates said I was good. Thank you.

I'm actually quite enjoying this now. Isn't part of the fun disagreeing with lots of it?! I think Five to Five might as well be cast now, and stop all this mucking about. Although it would be fun to put together a B-team of alternates/understudies/ensemble from the remaining boys; which for me would include Jason, Huw, Alexis & Matt, and possibly Danny and Connor. I was surprised that Anthony was let go, he at least had a personality and presence. Other than that they seemed (once more) to lose the least good looking, paying particular attention to those whose haircuts were shaved a bit too much at the sides. I thought the Pitch Perfect style acapella battle at the start was a bit of a mess all round. It gave Martin Kemp something to do though. And I failed to see the relevance of Rikki Lake at all! Al those Jersey Boys were a bit scary, have they all been in the show? Wonder if the elimination format will be the same next week? If so it seems a bit unfair to have a third band in the final that has only just been cobbled together. But I'm hooked now.
