There's Something About Mary- it's a comedy, not too many characters, any/awkward situations, a rich of slapstick. It could work

Perhaps Baz Luhrmann would have been better off developing The Get Down for stage rather than spending quite so much money on the Netflix series (which was thoroughly enjoyable!) and quite so much time on the seemingly mediocre Strictly. The Get Down struck me as an interesting piece that with the right editing and development could make quite a decent stage show. It would also tick a big BAME box that everyone seems to be screaming about lately (WSS) and theres a lead part perfect for Tyrone Huntley in there.
Some really good original songs were developed for the series as well as some interesting choices of already existing music from the 70-80s. Italso has elements barking up the same tree as Hamilton and could make on the success of that.

I know there was talk of them making it into a stage play but Brokeback Mountain could be a great musical. I don't know why Jason Robert Brown/Bonnie & Clyde/Bridge of Madison County come to mind, but that could be a good one!

Currently watching ‘The Prince Of Egypt’ and thinking it would be a good stage musical..just found out it’s recently had its world premier in Denmark!!
I mean they already have ‘When You Believe’ & ‘Deliver Us’ which are both epic!!

Cynthia Erivo will be pissed, but Hercules is one of Disney's best scores out there. So hearing that in a musical wpuld be amazing! Cynthia would be a fabulous Muse. And whilst looking at the Disney cannon, I nominate two of my favourites, Enchanted and Tangled.  |

I've just been watching a documentary about the village of Imber in Wiltshire - in 1943, the villagers were told they had to leave the village, so that it could be used by the army for training exercises. They were told at a meeting that they'd be allowed back after the war. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, despite protests over the years. The government did make a meagre concession - that the village would be opened a few days per year for the villagers (and any other interested parties) to visit.
I could see this as a musical or a straight film.

Tim Minchin said in The Guardian Facebook live interview the other day (with him and Dennis Kelly about Matilda) that he has had the movie/book "Stardust" as an idea for a musical. I think it would be pretty great to see, especially as Matilda and Groundhog Day are both incredible. Just bumping my old comment up as Tim Minchin posted a selfie with Neil Gaiman (writer of 'Stardust') yesterday, so maybe the Stardust musical just MIGHT be in the works?... |

I would love to see a musical or ballet adaption of the anime movie 5 Centimeters per Second. Its short but I think has the potential to be expanded into a gorgeous one act show.

I wonder whatever happened to the Bridget Jones and Back To The Future musicals that have been “in development “ for years. I think they both have/“had?” the potential to be brilliant.

‘Bridget Jones’ fair enough but I’ve always thought BTTF was a set piece too far for a musical. A car reaching a certain speed would be really tricky to realise onstage without being anyi-climactic or a projection...not convinced.

Moulin Rouge already has been turned into a stage musical so we can cross that off the list, I’m not sure how Lady and the Tramp would work as a musical, there’s barely any songs and the lead characters are dogs!
I’m sure The Greatest Showman will be on Broadway within the next five years although they would need to expand it story wise and song wise

The Greatest Showman would be hard to put on stage wouldn’t it? In terms of production and set? Agreed there would need to be some new songs but if they do it soon before the hype dies down it’ll be huge.
Bridget Jones would be a great musical but seems to have gone quiet now which is weird as they’ve tried loads of workshops

Wuthering heights has already been done in the 90s called Heathcliff starring cliff Richard. although.he was miscast I actually really like much of the songs and enjoy the vhs version occasionally (available on the tube of you).
Id actually love a revival but with more appropriate acting.I actually think it would be a great vehicle for ramin karimloo

stagey can't recall which thread but theres been discussion on here about how effectively TGS could translate onto stage. You could do it with one big circus space and the rest of the scenes could play off in smaller scenes inside. An auditorium like New London (Gillian Lynne) would work for such a show because the curved nature already implies circus presentation. Peter Pans already been done hasn't it, in various formats? When Curve announced an 80s film/musical adaption there was huge speculation on here that it would be Back to the Future (because they used a Huey Lewis song as promo) and I think the general consensus was warm to the idea. As for me, I'd love to see La La Land refined and developed into a stage production.
