I'll be away in windbag country on both dates, so missing out again.

Picnic is an excellent idea.
But doing the Open Air theatre as a group thing, ideal to have picnic in the lovely Regent's Park?

Maybe planning a meet up or two for a big group isn't the best way to go about it. There are so many of us, and people who want to come but can't because they are unavailable on the two dates we have had thus far and the ones that may come up. Esepcially those of our friends here who live far from London, or even out of the UK. Maybe the better way to do it is to just not plan big events per se, but let people just say "look, I'm in London from ... until ..., if anyone wants to meet up for a drink, catch a show, go for a walk, whatever, lets do it". Then, those who can't make these specific dates chosen by a few people can meet people when it works for them, and it may also mean that others have more options to meet rather than just a couple of specific dates?

Oh, I don't know. I think the fact that two meet ups have taken place already, that they have been open to anyone who wanted to go, and resulted in actual real people successfully getting together is a great testament to you all. Don't kill it before it's had a chance to find its way. These things don't just happen without a bit of persistence.

danieljohnson14 I think both concepts can work alongside each other. Many including myself have met people from here for individual shows and will continue to do so. I'm always happy to join anyone at a show and for a drink. The larger meets can also be nice as well and I think the 2 so far have been a success. Meeting large groups of people isn't for everyone but there is a place for it.

Oh I'm not saying it doesn't work, obviously it has done well. But I do just think it is a shame that some of our International board members can't always make it, so more a suggestion to them, as I would love to meet some of them, and have already!
Also, I know it was mentioned before by some... before The Color Purple would be a good idea for the next one, I am sure several of us are going!

Aren't we doing just the thing as you describe? "Look, I'm flying 1600 miles to come to London and in London between June 10 and 17 and I would love to meet those who'll be able to join the party and have a drink or a picnic or whatever". Obviously, I won't be able to make all the dates before June, but that doesn't mean I'm against someone arranging meetings during that period

I've never been to the Understudy Bar, so I don't obviously know how big it is. And I wasn't at the meet up so I don't know if there were any issues like finding one another etc. But if I could offer a suggestion, when we had the first meet up in January, we didn't have any trouble finding eachother really, and I think that worked for a few reasons. It was a smaller pub. We were putting on here where we were, what table we were at, who was wearing what and if we were running late, so even if we couldn't find the group who were at a table, we could hopefully find at least one of us at the bar or somewhere else in the pub. So a communication thing ahead of time or running throughout would probably be a lot more of a help for people generally if people are doing a bigger meet up. It also helped that we were sat quite close to the door, so we could spot anyone coming in and looking lost and go and talk to them. It also helped that you and daniel came in clutching a School of Rock program

I've clearly been away from this board too long! I hope you had a great night and if there's another one, I'll definitely come along.

I'm open to the idea of seeing The Wipers Times on the Easter Saturday is there are any reasonable deals going on tickets, not excited enough about it to want to pay £40.

Right down the street.

Wipers Times is visiting 2 venues I also frequent (Guildford and Richmond) in the autumn, and maybe others of which I'm yet unaware, so I don't have to rush to see it and it'd need a good deal on the price to persuade me to opt for the Arts Theatre; plus the matinees are awkwardly early there (2.30 pm). But it sounds as if there's enough interest from others here to justify a small outing without me.

Lets have some suggestions of dates and potential locations I'm not sure with regards to specific dates if we want to do a specific meet up, however, I am guessing The Color Purple (May 21st) and Wicked (Jul 22nd) will be busy with board members, so they may be potential meet-up options if we want to do specific show meet ups?

I was going to suggest the July 22nd one over on the Wicked thread. It can still attract non Wicked attendees aka the glued to the same table crew

My next times in London are June 12th and June 16th so I can meet up those days (though they are weekdays so that may not work!)
In terms of Saturdays, its July 8th for Matt Henry's final show or July 22nd for Wicked cast change, but may pop in a few more times between haha.

Sam and James... your names are awkward to tag!) Now here's a one-off! Me knowing how to do something on a computer! danieljohnson14 if you hover over posters' blue names you will get their @+user name come up in teeny tiny writing. (I do know that d'james is simply @ + james, without the d' in front.) You're welcome
