They are saying a running time of 3 hours 45, with 2 intervals, so it explains the time move.  |

I'm amazed they've not changed the start time of evening performances - finishing at 23:15 is crazy!

Just checked for the date I'm going and there is a rail replacement bus part of the way home. Fantastic. Gonna try buttering up the brother and see if he will pay for me to stay in a hotel.

I'm amazed they've not changed the start time of evening performances - finishing at 23:15 is crazy! Evening shows start at 7pm (at the Gielgud that is). |

Nope, according to the Delmac website. "The running time of THE FERRYMAN is 3 hours and 45 minutes including two intervals." Wow. Oh well, more Paddy C  |

They still have 2 months to inform ticket holders about date changes, the Old Vic did with King Lear so I expect The Royal Court will send out new tickets with the new start time in due course.

There's no earthly way they can have both if they're not altering the start time. They should decide which they're going with, and they should decide it as quickly as possible, and if it's the former, they may want to get Delfont Mackintosh to stop scaremongering with the running time (not that 3 hours 30 isn't quite scary in itself). In my experience, people are much more likely to forgive an excessive running time if they have some advance warning. I still remember the abject horror echoing around social media when people finally emerged from early previews of The Crucible at the Old Vic. |

Yes they can. 3h 45m is the advance warning for the Gielgud with a 7pm start time so can have two full-length intervals. The RCT could have shorter intervals. |

Ah, this is a fair point. Two 12 minute intervals then? Mind you, plays with two intervals don't necessarily have two full-length intervals. I seem to remember Jerusalem having a 20 minute interval and a 10 minute break, so maybe this will have a 20 minute interval and a 5 minute break? Hope the Gielgud has enough toilets for pleasant queuing!

Crikey, pleased I've booked a matinee! Do they have the comfortable seats upstairs at the RC too, never sat up there? (I mean circle downstairs, not upstairs theatre, if you get me!)

On ringing RC earlier (not me) to query start time and length they seemed bit surprised website saying 3 h 45 and have agreed to refund tickets if still that long when it starts rather than 11pm finish, said couldn't change evening start time as people never read emails, would turn up late etc. guess they worry less with matinees as less of them?
Unamused, we don't all live in sloane squaure.

I booked this at the Gielgud with a 7pm start. If I had known the running time I might not have bothered.

Neither did I, cant justify some of the prices so £29 for the very back row of the Grand Circle, in one of the non-restricted view seats -and I've taken the aisle seat so I can stretch my legs a bit.

During previews: £19.50, £34.50, 54.50(top price) and £84.50 (premiums) Main run: £24.50, £44.50, £64.50, £94.50. Cheap seats are rear grand circle, rest of Grand plus some of stalls are second price, Dress is all top price. £95 squidooly?! Chris de Burgh was right. Don't pay the ferryman. Don't even fix a price. Almost 4 hours and almost £100? There'd better be a heck of a lot of nudity and several hot actors willing to disrobe for that. Daylight robbery. After killing off Dame Judi in 'Skyfall' and ditching Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes ought to be ashamed. A. Shamed. |

Just checked a random date - 13th September evening, and all the £12 seats in the grand circle slips are available at delfontmackintosh.co.uk. Some in the Dress slips too. Feel like I might fork out for a decent seat for something of that length, assuming I fail to get to see it at the RC |

Delfont Mackintosh have now recanted the running time, and the Royal Court contacted me earlier to assure me the running time is not yet set. So maybe there's going to be some studious cutting in the not-too-distant future.
